Did I hear correctly today when Robin was talking to Anna, Does or did Robert Scorpio have colon cancer

Did I hear correctly today when Robin was talking to Anna, Does or did Robert Scorpio have colon cancer?
Today they were talking and Robin was saying life was short and things unexpected and... since her father had colon cancer. Did I miss something, does or did he have it, has he died, is that why Anna was away? Does he have it in real life (the actor) or is it just in the show? I don't get to follow the night show, so I guess I miss out.

He has colon cancer. They have been following the story on GH's Night Shift. He's not dead. He's been getting treatment at GH. Anna didn't know because Robert didn't want Robin to tell her. He didn't want her to see him that way.
2 :
Yes Robert is battling colon cancer right now on GH:Night Shift.Anna just found out this week. Just seen your edit and no he does not have it in real life but I believe his father battled this nasty disease.
3 :
He has colon cancer but if you don't watch GH NIGHT SHIFT it is not common knowledge to those only watching GH.
4 :
On General Hospital: Night Shift, the character, Robert Scorpio has colon cancer. Robin has been taking care of her father on Night Shift, and he is even living with her. At first, Robert didn't want Anna to know that he had cancer, so Robin kept her father's illness a secret from Anna but,on this week's episode, Robert had to have emergency surgery and Robin couldn't take it anymore and told Anna. And the 3 of them had a wonderful reunion on Night Shift. It was a good week for the Scorpio's. Plus, Robert and Robin have been having a lot of wonderful father-daughter chats on Night Shift and their scenes are gold. It's too bad they aren't telling the story on General Hospital. Last year I didn't have Soapnet and this year I do, and I'm finding that I'm actually liking Night Shift better than GH right now. The writing is much better. And, if you are a long time viewer like me, than you would also enjoy seeing Jagger Cates back, with his son, Stone Cates (who knew there would ever be another Stone Cates?).
5 :
Robert does have colon cancer, he is only showed on GH:Night Shift.
6 :
yes robert scorpio does have colon cancer.
7 :
According to ABC soaps in Depth that came out today, Robert is going to die. I hope this is not the case. I would love, love, love to see him back on GH and in some adventures with Luke.
8 :
I swear to God they'd better not kill Robt Scorpio off.EP Guza's an idiot if he gets rid of this character especially in light of the fact that if Scorpio dies it will send a wrong/bad message to viewers. Many people won't even bother going to the doctor for a check up for something like that or get treatment. If Guza is smart he'll have Robert be cured and live happily ever after.
9 :
On GH Night shift Robert is in the hospital with colon cancer and a brain tumor. He is alive and has already had the brain surgery but is still battling the colon cancer. He does not have it in real life.

Does eating curry prevent colon cancer, alzheimers and obesity

Does eating curry prevent colon cancer, alzheimers and obesity?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curry#Health_benefits http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/holnus/099200905201632.htm if thats true then why some in America make fun of indians who eat curry. They call them names like "nasty curry eater" Whats so nasty about it? Its just a food in some asian cultures.

Curry contains turmeric, which is a wonder spice. I used it generously. But the best way to prevent colon cancer, according to the American Cancer Society, is to stay fit and eat more fiber and less meat. Eating Lots of Red Meat Linked to Colon Cancer http://www.cancer.org/docroot/NWS/content/NWS_1_1x_Eating_Lots_of_Red_Meat_Linked_to_Colon_Cancer.asp If you search online medical sites, you'll also see there's a red meat connection to Alzheimer's and a clear link to obesity. Probably the biggest benefit of the Indian diet is that much of it is vegetable-based.

First, DON'T PANIC!!! Secondly, see a doctor or go to the ER. Your chances of having colon cancer are slim to none, but it sounds like you have an issue that should be treated by a physician. Don't mess with it -- go in and get looked at.
2 :
Go to see a doctor immediately.
3 :
You need to see a doctor.. if you don't have a BM soon you can be in major trouble. Since a stool softener didn't work, it would be in your best interest to be checked. You may have a twisted intestine and forcing your stool may induce a ruptured intestine. Seek medical attention as soon as possible.
4 :
i recommend you don't panic and visit your doctor. you can second guess all day but you won't know for sure until someone qualified checks you over. chances are it's something simple
5 :
It sounds to me like you are impacted. This can be very serious because when stool stays in the colon or any part of the intestine, it can cause a type of poison. Remember, stools are the bad part of food that can't be digested and is eliminated. Before you panic, eat some prunes or drink prune juice. this works better than stool softeners. I know a lot of people don't like prunes or the juice but it's better than becoming toxic to your body. You will have to see a Dr if this goes on any longer. It becomes painful, your abdomen becomes distended as well. Colon cancer is usually in found in people over 40 but nothing is impossible. I wish you the best, Hope everything comes out all right for you. (No pun intended)

well i cant tell you i dont have a crystal ball. dont want one neither.. arg... seriously this is very sad all suffering sucks cancer sucks suffering sucks why WOULD GOD CREATE ALL FLESH TO SUFFER FOR plus the cops... thats so young .. JESUS PRAY FOR YOU TWO..
2 :
Very hard to say. It depends on how he resonds to the chemo treatments obviously. Many people have been in that type of situtation, and fully beatin the cancer. His doctor can give him a more accurate prognosis. But I wish you the best of luck.
3 :
Hang in there. Don't lose hope. Tell everyone you know to pray for him. Many people don't want to tell anyone for fear of unwanted sympathy. That's the wrong approach. You need help from as many people as you can get. I'll start here for you. I'm 46 and found out two months ago I have rectal cancer. I've got allot of people praying for me and I feel better just knowing that. Stay positive and keep him positive. You will feel a change. Everything happens for a reason and out of every thing that seems negative, comes a positive. It's the way of the world. Regardless of the outcome you should know that something good will come from your ordeal. God Bless.
4 :
There is no way of telling you this. It depends on his response to the chemo and radiation, his will to live, his overall general health before he got ill, his daily nutrition - all of these contribute to how long or how short his lifespan will be. His physician is your best resource on this.
5 :
I am so sorry, what a terrible situation. People are sometimes well-meaning by trying to make you feel better, but I believe people deserve the best information possible whether it be good or bad. IĆ¢€™m sorry to say many people do not survive this situation. It is very rare that they do. His oncologist has all the information needed to give you the best answer, but from 50 years of keeping cancer data we know the 5 year survival rate for stage 4 colon cancer is 5%. How well your husband does will depend on how well he responds to treatment. Best wishes to you both.
6 :
I'm so sorry that your husband is so sick. My family is going through a similar scenario. My brother found out he had cancer 2 weeks before Xmas. He was deer hunting in Nov. and today all he can do is go to the bathroom and go to bed. He has cancer in his lungs, brain, spine, and lymphatics. He went through 10 treatments of radiation and will be starting chemo pretty soon. You will have to ask your husbands oncologist if you want to know his true prognosis. Some people don't want to know. Two oncologists told my brother's wife that they expect he has 3 months left. She won't tell him since I don't think he wants to know. He never asks. He thinks he is going to beat it and we let him think that. If you do a search on cancer, I'm sure you can find a ton of information on it. I would start by looking on Wikipedia. My father died from stomach cancer. My prayers go out for your husband. I hope the treatments really work for him.

Colon cancer question

Colon cancer question?
Ok so my friend has colon cancer stage three and is going through chemo therapy right now. Are the chances good that she'll be okay? it didn't spread at all. thanks.
Cancer - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
I am sorry to tell you, but if it is stage 3 it has spread to the lymph nodes. At least 12 nodes should have been examined to have a good idea of involvement. Tumor grade and whether or not the colon was perforated also play a part in prognosis, but generally stage 3 has a 5 year survival rate of 50-75% depending on which stage 3 it is.
2 :
Very easy to find this data on the internet http://www.alternative-cancer-treatments.com/colon-cancer-prognosis.htm We don't know the nodal status - N1,N2,N3 It would also help to know the histology - the tumor grade by appearance. The size of the primary and the location in the colon would help too. With the very limited information you have - an extremely rough guess would be in the 50/50 range or 40/60 or 60/40 that she will be OK five years from now. Heck, we don't even know her age. That also matters. Her medical oncologist should be explaining these statistics, and he or she has all of the necessary information we don't have here. Added note - Excellent answer by Denisedds It's frustrating for those of us who are medical professionals to not have the information we need to provide a good answer.

Colon cancer - is it rare among teenagers

Colon cancer - is it rare among teenagers?
I'm currently experiencing pain in my stomach. I always thought of gas, but it doesn't seem to go away. I'm not losing any weight, and I'm not losing my appetite. However, last night, I had a loose bowel movement and found a rich blood in my stool. I'm really worried. What could this be?
Cancer - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
i dont know but last week i was wiping my butt and there was some blood coming out
2 :
You should go and see your doctor. Colon cancer is rare in teens (more common if other people in your family had colon cancer in their younger years). The way you describe your symptoms, it could be many different things, from simple gastroenteritis to constipation/impaction to hernia to many other problems. It could also be a simple polyp that could easily be removed. Go to your doctor and get checked out.
3 :
You have hemorrhoids as indicated by the bright red blood. This is due to the typical crappy American diet that is low in fiber and fluids and high in greasy food. Start eating an apple every day, a bowl of oatmeal or other whole grain cereal, a half cup of raisins, and drink tons of water. Add a fiber supplement if necessary. Soon your bowel problems and stomach aches will be a thing of the past. If your rhoids are really painful right now then soak your rear in hot water 3-4 times daily to shrink them up and use Preparation H as directed. However changing your diet to add more fiber and fluid intake is what will really cure this all too common problem. good luck http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hemorrhoids/DS00096
4 :
It does happen, but it's not very common. I was 20 when I was diagnosed. However, blood in your stool should never be ignored, so go and see your doctor asap rather than ignoring it. Make sure you tell him everything, and if anyone in your family has had colon cancer.

What causes colon cancer

What causes colon cancer?
Me and my dad were arguing about it the other day because I was confident that severe constipation over time could cause colon cancer.

a bad colon
2 :
I would say eating a lot of red meat, because it doesn't digest well, and it stays in the colon for a long time, and during so it rots over a period of time
3 :

4 :
That is a good question - I had colon cancer and so did my sister in-law, I am alive she sadly died age 56. I didn't necessarily lead a healthy life, I used to smoke, and ate practically anything, although was always slim and active. I went to the doctor as soon as I noticed a change in bowel movement and luckily the Doc. sent me for blood tests and a Colonoscopy, the latter showed signs of cancer and it was so, after the result of the biopsy came back, I had the Op by keyhole surgery, later on Chemo and now I am as fit as can be at 65. Sadly my sister in-law tried all sort of things like herbal stuff from a qualified herbalist and after months and months went at long last to the doctor. Well to make it short it was way too late, and she suffered a horrible death. So never neglect anything which isn't normal, whether it be constipation or the opposite just check it out with the doctor. there are numerous, natural ways to cure constipation. Why put up with it???
5 :
Roman is correct, its caused by a diet heavy in meat products. See this link. http://www.naturalnews.com/025974_cancer_health_colon_cancer.html

Anybody out there with no colon {cancer} but without a colostomy, as I am?
I was Dx with colon Ca first in 95, hemi-coloctomy then followed by Chemo 5 of FU. Re-diagnosed 2004 with new Ca polyps....complecte colectomy as described in Nov 06. Dealing with it, doing great. Cancer can, {and did} kiss my A** Of course not...that was a rude and uncalled for response. My brother has Colon cancer, and now liver cancer

My brother has Colon cancer, and now liver cancer.?
My brother has Colon cancer, he's only 33 years old. He says it's the size of his fist, and they found a black spot on his liver. What's his chances of living :( if he goes for surgery and chemo He's my older brother, and he's been there for me my whole life, I can't lose him.

I'm sorry but I think only his doctor can speculate. Be strong.
2 :
i am sorry about your brother's condition. You should put bran in your diet right away. At least, you can save your life. Cereals are Raisin bran, All Bran, or one of your choice. Those questions can only be answers by his doctors and x-rays not a board. Sorry.
3 :
It depends if that "black spot on his liver" is metastatic colon carcinoma or not. Adenocarcinoma of the colon tends to be aggressive in people this young, but he will likely have aggressive treatment surgically and medically. The best thing to do here is take one step at a time and see. The doctors who know the histology of his colon carcinoma and can see the liver scans are obviously the best people to answer this question. It is always a good idea to go to the doctors' offices with a family member to hear what the doctors explain and to ask your own questions. Your presence with the patient at the office is evidence of approval that the information provided may be shared with you. At least that is always how I perceived it - tacit consent for all the family members who came along to my office with my patients. Sometimes I would have 8 or more family members with a patient, but that was far better than explaining a complicated scenario 9 different times for each person individually. I always encouraged my patients to bring family members in with them if they wanted the information shared. Patient confidentiality has become increasingly strict in the past ten or fifteen years in the U.S. Even for the doctors who know the details of the case, it is never possible to know how well any special individual will do or how long they might live. Every person is different. Statistical averages do not tell you what one individual will do. People often misinterpret statistics as predictions of the future. No doctor can see the future with certainty. Added note - Colon cleansing after someone already has a colon carcinoma is too late.

Can Diverticulitis "hide" colon cancer

Can Diverticulitis "hide" colon cancer?
My mom has had many problems with Diverticulitis. In Jan she was in the hospital for 9 days, and recently she was in for 3 for what they thought was Diverticulitis. After some sort of test (I am not sure what it was) it showed that she was not in active Diverticulitis, but had a build up of scar tissue from having it so many times. She was to have a colon resection next week when the doctor decided to do a colonsocopy today to rule out Crohn's and IBS. Whew...ok, almost there...so in my experience (breast cancer survivor) doctors do not always say they are looking for cancer. My mom's mom died of colon cancer, so there is a risk, but I am wondering if there is anyone out there who has had something like this happen, colon cancer being "hid" by something else. ummm....maybe you missed the onformation where I said she was just in the hospital and is getting a colonoscopy today. That would be something a doctor performs. Thanks for the helpful information.

see a doctor
2 :
Your poor Mom, Chrohn's disease can be so difficult to deal with. It can be difficult to distinguish lesions and polyps in the intestinal tract as possible cancer or just a diverticulitis. I am sure your Mom's doctor is doing what needs to be done but yes a masking can happen. Depends on how bad the diverticulitis is. If there are too many polyps to biopsy or not. Also, these conditions she has can put her at greater risk for malignancy. Talk to her gastroenterologist and ask if every precaution is being taken and what those are, just for yours and your Mother's peace of mind. Good Health.
3 :
I suppose it is possible that there could be an early cancer there, but MUCH more common is the scarring that you describe associated with repeated bouts of diverticulitis/diverticulosis. Personally, I would rather be diagnosed with colon cancer than any of the other situations you describe (diverticulitis with scarring or either of the inflammatory bowel diseases). Colon cancer in the early stages is very curable, the others are not so easily.

What vitamins should i take before starting chemotherapy for colon cancer

What vitamins should i take before starting chemotherapy for colon cancer?

Cancer - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Do not take any vitamins before Chemo without your doctor's consent or advice. You do NOT want a cross reaction that could be very bad. I am very serious here. ASK YOUR ONCOLOGIST! Do NOT listen to me or anyone else here. ASK YOUR ONCOLOGIST! I wish you the very best of luck in the ordeal you are about to go through. I hope you succeed with full remission. The advances in cancer control have been wonderful. I volunteer for the ACS. IF you have questions and/or fears, please contact your local ACS immediately for help. You will find they will help you get to and from chemo, will help you with your shopping, whatever you must do. We are out there for you, we fully sympathize with your present state of being. Again, I am rooting for you to be a survivor.
2 :
Yeah...ask your doctor on that one.
3 :
Yes, ask your doctor. However, don't expect him/her to get too excited about this question. No vitamin is going to make a big difference in your treatment outcome.
4 :
Some Drs believe that antioxidants (C,E, others) taken at the same time you are doing chemo stops or slows the chemo induced apoptosis (cell death) of the malignant cells. I don't think there have been clinical trials to prove this question one way or another, but in any case, this is a question that needs to be answered by your oncologist. good luck.
5 :
You shouldn't take any. Cancer cells metabolize faster than healthy ones. That's how chemo works, as I understand it. You are poisoning the cancer cells, and because of the higher rate they die before your regular cells

Depends on the person but colon cancer can metathesizes very quickly if not treated early in stages 1 and 2. Lost a loved one to it. Pray!
2 :
It depends where it is now and these days there is so much improvement in this field! I was diagnosed at 44 with Colon Cancer my doctor was wonderful from NY and was able to remove all of it with no Chemo. or anything!! I was very lucky. I follow up 4 times a year with the Oncologist and must have 2 scopes a year now! I will pray for your father and hope all works out! These days you can live a long time with Colon Cancer!! Your doctor should know what stage it is in now you need to talk to him/her!! God Bless I am so very sorry!! Carol :(
3 :
It depends on many factors: early diagnosis, depth of tumors, etc. A colonostomy bag will definitely be needed, along with surgery, chemo, nutrtion, and mental help. I say the latter because I've read numerous studies which say that people who get depressed and have "the world is against me" attitude tend not to survive for long. One must remain positive and active in their treatments. Survival rates for any cancer is higher with early diagnosis. Being diagnosed in stage 3 or 4 is not good.
4 :
New studies on the benefits of onion juice for eliminating cancer have just been concluded by researchers at Cornell University, confirming what we have been saying all along - onion juice will cure your cancer. What they are still not understanding is how the onions should be administered to effectuate the greatest benefits in eliminating your cancer. 5 :
Colon cancers typically do not spread very fast, certainly not in days. It may take years before a patient has symptoms. This is why a screening colonoscopy is recommended every 4-5 years. We donĆ¢€™t really know how long it takes to move from one stage to another as when it is found we donĆ¢€™t leave it there to find out. Rarely are advanced colon cancers found it patients who have regular screenings. Colon cancer usually begins in a polyp. There are two kinds of polyps, one kind of looks like a golf ball on a tee. It is removed at the base of the tee and most of the time the cancer is contained it the part that was removed. If this is the case the patient does not require any other treatment. No surgery, no chemo, nothing. The other type of polyp is called a sessile polyp. These polyps are flat on a broad base and cannot be removed during a colonoscopy. They are usually biopsied and tattooed so that they may be surgically removed later. Best of luck to you both.

Colon cancer survival rate

Colon cancer survival rate?
ok, so my father has had tongue cancer 5 times over 9 years. every two years it has come back and removed with surgery and replaced the removed body parts with other parts of his body (he no longer has his original tongue or jaw). now, he may have colon cancer. what are his chances of survival after all this? well, after all the other surgeries, he can no longer receive radiation. i don't know what stage he is at i just know he may have it.
Cancer - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Well that depends on what stage colon cancer he has. If it can be removed with surgery and he takes treatment after surgery then his chances of survival are very high.
2 :
The 5 year survival rate for colon cancer is based upon its stage of progression. If a patient previously had cancer at another location, then its appearance elsewhere in the body typically constitutes metastasis from the original site. "Replaced the removed body parts with other parts of his body"? I haven't heard that story before.

Colon cancer and dry eyes

Colon cancer and dry eyes?
I know a person with colon cancer who also happens to have discomfort in their eyes, he complains about the eyes feeling dry and as if he was really tired, is there any possibility that his dry eyes might have any correlation with his cancer condition?
Cancer - 1 Answers

It could very well be the type of treatment he's getting. I'm getting the most common type of chemo for colon cancer, which is 5FU, Oxypalatin and Leucovorin, and tiredness and dry eyes are very common (there is a huge list of side effects, and both are listed). He should talk to his oncologist to see what he would recommend for both. He may at least be able to give him some type of drops for his eyes.

My bf found out that his dad has colon cancer. He wanted to stop our relationship, please help

My bf found out that his dad has colon cancer. He wanted to stop our relationship, please help.?
We had a talk and he said he did not mean it but he cant handle being in relationship, when he his dad has a cancer, so now we still together because he said he is sorry but it is very weird. What does it mean? Arent relationships supposed to mean helping each other, not breaking up in trouble?
Cancer - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
To some people, being in a relationship takes lots of work - being pleasant, spending lots of time with the other person, etc. Since his focus now needs to be on his father, he may feel overwhelmed and cannot spend the time maintaining a relationship with you because all of his thoughts and time and activities will be spent on his father.
2 :
give him the space he needs to deal what he and his family are going through sounds as though he is traumatized and until you have been through something like that yourself you will not understand why he is acting the way he is, its natural ,dont be selfish just step back and give him the time to get his head around this
3 :
I just recently found out my mother has colon cancer and my bf left me granted two days before i found out about my mother he was talking about leaving, showed me what kind of man he really is he is now gone
4 :
It sounds like your boyfriend has a lot of stress right now and doesn't feel like he can juggle two relationships at the same time. The relationship period is more of a 'trial' period to see how each of you handle different stresses in different situations. Your boyfriend expresses the need to devote more time to his father right now. Have an open and honest discussion with your boyfriend. Offer your support in this difficult time in his life and if he should need any help, it is certainly alright to be of some assistance. Then sit back and let your boyfriend make the next move. If your boyfriend totally severs ties with you during your heart to heart discussion, don't dwell on the negatives..just learn from your experience and move on. Good luck.

It's more common for people over 60, and I believe men are at a higher risk than women.
3 :
Hell no! It usually don't raise it's ugly head until mid - 40s.
4 :
It's common in any age, even children. It's more in women actually, the symptoms are hard to breath, you don't go to the bathroom so often... and you don't have apetite and you don't wanna to eat anything.
5 :
colon cancer can happen at any time and is now on the rise in America. I just had four feet of my colon removed due to cancer and they got it all. The only symptom I had ( and i had it fairly continuous for 4-5 years prior, was constipation but I never thught cancer until I threw up stool and then realized that the constipation had to be due to a blockage and I had a peach sized tumor removed two weeks later----I had no symptoms until then but you could have tenderness in the abdomen, swelling and constipation if you have any continuing problems your physiciab will order a colonoscopy to make sure for you and put your mind at ease
6 :
My grandma had it at 82. I'm not sure of the statistics for age or sex it affects. My gram was bleeding everytime she went to the bathroom. That was the only symptom she had.
7 :
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a common and lethal disease. The risk of developing CRC is influenced by both environmental and genetic factors. Approximately 145,290 new cases of large bowel cancer are diagnosed each year in the United States, of which 104,950 are colon and the remainder rectal cancers. In 2005, more than 56,000 Americans will die of CRC, accounting for approximately 10% of all cancer deaths. In the United States, CRC ranks second to lung cancer as a cause of cancer death, and it is third both in frequency and cause of cancer death, in men and women separately. Age is a major risk factor for sporadic CRC. It is a rare diagnosis before the age of 40, the incidence begins to increase significantly between the ages of 40 and 50, and age-specific incidence rates increase in each succeeding decade thereafter. The lifetime incidence of CRC in patients at average risk is about 5%, with 90% of cases occurring after age 50. The incidence is higher in patients with specific inherited conditions that predispose them to the development of CRC. Environmental and genetic factors can increase the likelihood of developing CRC. Although inherited susceptibility results in the most striking increases in risk, the majority of CRCs are sporadic rather than familial. At least some data supports the view that family history (as well as physical activity level) are stronger contributors to colon cancer as opposed to rectal cancer risk. Associated risk factors: 1. Familial adenomatous polyposis 2. Hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer 3. Personal or family history of sporadic cancers or adenomatous polyps 4. Inflammatory bowel disease 5. Diabetes mellitus and insulin resistance 6. Alcohol 7. Cigarette smoking Hope this helped ;) -random physician

Can a liver with mets from colon cancer be trans planted

Can a liver with mets from colon cancer be trans planted?
my friend has colon cancer and it spread to his liver which is now shutting down, can he get a transplant. we need to get answers soon it is getting bad please help... thank you
Cancer - 8 Answers

1 :
could be theoritcally but hos prognosis is bad , and other people deserve it more
2 :
if you've contacted UNOS, that's the only way in the US. I know of people going overseas (singapore, etc) but that's much more risky, it's a lot more unknown and a lot less regulated. If his colon has been removed that i suppose it's a possibility, but I doubt UNOS will have anything to do with it since it might have spread elsewhere and the tumors haven't grown big enough to detect yet.
3 :
It is unlikely that he would get a liver from the donor list because of his cancer/prognosis.
4 :
UNOS can help you. However, since your friend has another form of concer it's unlikely they would give him an organ anytime in the next several years. People with other kinds of rampant cancer don't get organs, organs are generally for those whose organs are failing, but aren't cancerous or metastatic.
5 :
I REALY THINK THE ANSWER IS NO......HE HAS AN UNDERLYING DISEASE.
6 :
i dont think is possible ,,,once its mets to the liver form the colon it sounds more invasive... sorry... sounds like there is more involvemnet than that like lymph nodes.. once in lymph nodes is pretty bad...
7 :
Good evening. I had a bi-lateral lung transplant a little over two years ago due to Cystic Fibrosis so while my experience is not related to the liver specifically there are certain things that are common between all organ transplants. Anyone receiving an organ transplant must be on immunosuppression medications for the rest of their life to prevent their body from rejecting the new organs. Accordingly, with the reduced immune system, we are already at a higher risk of new illnesses/diseases. Certain types of cancer are more possible with the immunosuppression but if someone already has cancer then being immunosuppressed in this manner will only allow the cancer to either worsen or come back if initially cured. I'm sorry to tell you that I don't foresee any of the US transplant centers accepting your friend into their program due to the pre-existing colon cancer. There may be programs in foreign countries that would accept him but given the shortage of donor organs it's unlikely that you would find such a program or that it would not be at a prohibitive cost. However, your friend should discuss the possibilities with his oncologist. Individuals must be referred to a transplant program and are not just considered for listing because they want to be listed. Best wishes to you and your friend.
8 :
In the US, people who have cancer in other areas of their body other than the liver would not be considered for a liver transplant. If they transplanted the liver into this person, it is likely that the cancer would recur in the liver and the patient would end up dying from the cancer eventually.

It feels like on the wall of the cheek.( might be bone) I don't think I feel recently but am very scared for colon cancer. Also, my poop (stool) comes out in small pieces and thin and not very much. You should be... these are sure signs of cancer. But not colon cancer... this is a sure case of kidney cancer. You must have your cancerous kidney removed immediately. The procedure is hard to do on short notice, but you should walk into the hospital and tell them exactly what you want. Do this very soon.
2 :
Don't panic, could just be you have full bowels or gas.

Honey it sounds as though you are constipated and the pain you feel is from the stool being compacted in there.Tell mom and she will give you a stool softener and within less than a day you should poop and feel way better.Try eating fibre cereal in the morning so it doesnt happen again.Even Shreddies should be enuf fibre.Dont worry just tell mom.
2 :
Unless there is a family history, this is very uncommon under the age of 50! You are probably just constipated. Drink more water, eat less junk food, more fibre and get some exercise.
3 :
Nope I don't think it's cancer. It's just probably the result of what you eat. Did you know that a lot of what you eat today is not healthy? You can be eating all those tempting fast foods and yet they don't even have nutrients that can be used by the body. Aside from processed foods, there are other types which could be considered dangerous to your health like junk foods and fake foods. All of these do not contain any nutritional value that your body needs. It is not easily absorbed and digested by your body.

I would talk to your parents about it. I doubt too many people on YahooAnswers can diagnose anything, so I would see a doctor...
2 :
I am not saying that it CAN NOT happen, but the chances are EXTREMELY slim given your age. Go to the doctor and they will just take a quick look and probably be able to give you an answer. Chances are it's hemmoroids or something, but just to be safe see the doctor.
3 :
It might not be colon cancer. You're pretty young. It might be something more like constipation problems due to lack of water and fiber intake. It could be hemorrhoids.... Best thing, though, is to tell your parents and then have them take you to a doctor.

you just post a question about swine flu?! you are a hypochondriac

do noy be scared I am 13 to and listen I am an ecxpert on poop and such I am sure its not colon cancer ask your mom and dad um go to a doc
6 :
you could be constipated or backed up, try eating veggetables and fruits. If there is still a problem/issue with it then ask your parents to make a doctors appointment.

HAHAHA!!! See what you get for being gay? Use more lube next time.

Do anal fissures cause colon cancer

Do anal fissures cause colon cancer?
Does having anal fissures mean it will cause cancer in the future?
Cancer - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
I don't see how this would happen. Nothing from the anus should enter the colon, and the fissure itself will not cause cancer (especially not of a different area). However, what is diagnosed as an anal fissure (for example bleeding) may turn out to actually be colon cancer, though I think the doctors would look around a little first.
2 :
any unhealed wound with frequent pus formation and no efforts to heal up, can become a source of transfer.
3 :
if it is associated with ulcerative colitis/chrohns disease it can go for colon cancer
4 :
no but the symptoms can be very similar - it can be misdiagnosed

I'm in the exact same situation. I had two operations for colon cancer and am due to have a third so my belly looks really scarred. And I'm only 20! No more bikinis for me I think! But I've started rubbing vitamin e oil on it, as in I get a vitamin e capsule, pop it and rub in the oil. A nurse at the hospital recommended that to me, but I have only just started doing that so will keep u updated! Can u let me know if you find anything that works!

Death varies for everyone. Some slip away quietly , others are agitated. With to-day's pain meds , no one need suffer. My Mom died in the hospital. A hospice is also a possibility depending on your insurance. Some folks die at home with a pain pump. I'm very sorry you have to go through this.
4 :
I know this sounds insensitive but make sure your sister has a chance to speak with a priest by herself, hospitals usually have priests close at hand . this will give her a very peace full transition. just ask him to drop by as he is making rounds. ive been witness to several family and friends passing over and the two that spoke with a priest were much easier transitions. i hope a priest is there for me when its my time. God bless you and your sister, i'm very sorry for your loss.

oh my god...how old is she? I have ulcerative colitis and its quickly getting worse. and Im so scared that I have colon cancer :'( But everywhere I read, its mostly just ppl over 50 that gets it.

What is colon cancer

What is colon cancer?
Recently everytime i poop blood has been coming out....people are saying that it can be colon cancer...what is it? and can it kill or harm in anyway? could it get worse? ps- I'm really young...

My mom died from colon cancer...blood doesn't necessary mean cancer..it could mean other issues but you won't know unless you go to the doctor
2 :
Blood is not necessarily colon cancer. You most likely have hemorrhoids - which are easily fixed. See a doctor. I have had hemorrhoids and the sooner you see a doctor the sooner they can get fixed. They will get worse if you don't. Personal experience - I had to have one surgically removed. There are good tests out there for colon cancer to catch it early before it hurts you. When you're old enough and get them, you should be okay. My father had colon cancer, but they caught it in time and he survived it. The tests are required at age 50, but if your parents had any signs of colon cancer or it's in your family, you have to get it earlier (in your 30s) which I did. If someone does not get the colon cancer tests (colonoscopy) regularly, they will get colon cancer. Colon cancer does not show signs until it is too late to cure and most people die from it.
3 :
Colon cancer is cancer of the colon. The colon is what we call the large intestine. Pretty much the last part of your bowel before it becomes the rectum and anus. The reason why people tend to bleed when they have colon tumors is because these tumors (we call them polyps) tend to get irritated and bleed with trauma from stool or as they get bigger. Polyps progress from benign to malignant and yes colon cancer can kill you. Like any other cancer it spreads to your liver and other parts of your body if not detected early and does become terminal. It is the 2nd most common cancer in men and women. The age it usually starts to show up is in your 50s. Some patients have hereditary predisposition to colon cancer and can get it in their teens. On the other hand, there are many other reasons why people have blood in their stool. Hemorrhoids, rectal fissures, inflammatory bowel disease, gastric ulcers, even trauma from wiping too hard. If you are worried and under 50, then talk to your doctor about your family history and if necessary getting screened for it. The screening test most reliable is a colonoscopy. It is recommended for everyone over 50 (because of how prevalent colon cancer is in our society) and people younger if they have risk factors or have a positive family history.
4 :
Hi there , you could have what we call "Hemorrhoids" , My suggestion is to eat wheat bread and take colace stool softeners , increase your fluid intakes , especially water and juices ..Hemorrhoids are tiny blood vessels that break when we have hard bowel movements .. Also , I would recommend that you look for signs of: 1 .. Severe stomache pain or cramps 2.. constipation 3.. diarrhea a lot 4.. nausea 5. sharp pain wakening you up 6 . weight loss 7 ..loss of appeptite

Would like information on colon cancer

Would like information on colon cancer
Because some blood work showed that I'm anemic (never have been before), my doctor wants to do a colonoscopy and a endoscopy. I'm completely freaking out wondering if he thinks I might have colon cancer or something. I've not seen any blood when going to the bathroom, but I know that doesn't always happen. If anyone has any information, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Any type of cancer either benign or malignant is really never a good thing so your docter completely has a reason to be worried. If you do have colon cancer, which I hope you don't, then you can get treatment. look at my source for information on colon cancer, and also look through the other pages at the link(it is on page 3). hope this helps
2 :
If he really thought it was colon cancer why do an endoscopy at all? If being anemic is your only symptom, I doubt he thinks you have cancer he probably has no diagnosis in mind at all as there is no information to base one on. He wants the tests as he suspects you may be bleeding internally and the tests are needed to see if the reason and location of the bleeding can be found. Bleeding can be caused for numerous reasons and cancer is only one of them. The link below will give you information about colon cancer. http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/types/colon-and-rectal
3 :
As the above answerer says, if the doc thought it could be colon cancer, he wouldn't do an endoscopy.

My friend underwent stage 3 colon cancer surgery. Anyway, she is healing well and

My friend underwent stage 3 colon cancer surgery. Anyway, she is healing well and?
has to go through 6 months of chemotherapy. How awful is that? Now will the drugs make her very sick? Or will the doctors give her anti-nausea medication. That is a long time to be on "CHEMO." The cancer was in 3 of the 12 lymph nodes. She is around 50 or 60. I do not ask age due to it is personal.
Cancer - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Everyone reacts differently to chemo and if she needs anti-nausea medication the doctor will give it to her.
2 :
I had this and six months of chemo. I used to have an injection every day for 5 days & then 3 weeks rest before doing it again. I had very little in the way of side effects, my hair stopped growing but none fell out. About half way through the week after treatment I felt tired & lethargic for a couple of days. That was it. The chemo was called "mayo". I had 7 out of 13 lymph nodes removed; that was 5 years ago.
3 :
I went through the exact same surgery on October 1 for stage 3 (2 lymph nodes invaded), and finished chemo, once every two weeks, on April 28. I was very lucky. My only symptoms from the chemo were tiredness (not bad) and my hands hurt when they got cold. She will probably be taking 3 medicines: 5-FU, which has been around since the 1950's, Oxalyplatin, which is another anti-cancer drug, and Leucovorin, which is a vitamin that helps the 5-FU work better. In addition, I received 2 different types of anti-nausea medicines, and was offered another pill in case I needed it the first few days after treatment (I didn't). My oncologist said that with all the anti-nausea medicines available, no one should have nausea. There is only a 5% chance she will lose her hair, 20% will have their hair thin. Mine stopped growing, so naturally it was thinner by the time I was finished. I was more tired than usual, but I slept an extra hour each night and I was OK. She will almost certainly have the problem with her hands, due to the Oxalyplatin. Most people get cotton gloves to wear when they have to deal with anything cold, like taking things out of the refrigerator. Her immune system will be suppressed because of the chemo, since it affects all types of fast-growing cells (like white blood cells), not just the chemo. If her white blood cell count is too low, they may have to delay chemo for a week or 2 to give it a chance to build back up. Most people get mouth sores, too, but they can prescribe a medicine to gargle with, or she can even use salt water. The coldness of drinks also can make some people have problems swallowing. My chemo took about 4 hours (6 hours later, because I had an allergic reaction). They will give her an anti-nausea medicine first, then the Leucovorin and Oxaliplatin, then another anti-nausea medicine, then the 5-FU. I was given the 5-FU in two parts: for about an hour at the hospital, then in a pouch like a fanny pack (I called it my saddle bag) for 22 hours. I was able to take mine off myself, since I had someone teach me, but they can send a home health care nurse to do it instead.
4 :
I under went 12 months of Chemo , I felt tired most of the time The Doctors will give her Anti nausea pills to take in order to keep her from getting real sick. What you can do to help her out is tell her funny jokes to keep her spirits high. Help her keep a positive out look on life and she will recover quicker. My family did this for me , I'm a 2year survivor, of stage 4 cancer.

Colon cancer BIO question

Colon cancer BIO question?
The development of colon cancer occurs slowly, as it does in many cancers. This is most likely because a. cancer cells don't have mitochondria, so they grow slowly. b. more than one somatic mutation must occur. c. cancer cells suppress the growth of each other in a tissue. d. cancer cells have to wait until new blood vessels grow into the area, which takes much time. e. most cancer mutations interfere with mitosis, so cell division occurs more slowly.
