99.99% yes
2 :
more than likely it's that you're not eating right and have hemorrhoids!
3 :
NO it does not. You might have hemroids, they will bleed when having a bowel movement. Instead of asking us fools, you should just visit the MD. You will get all the answers you need from a professional.
4 :
It could be Internal Hemorrhoid's,but you need to see a doctor and have it checked out.
5 :
it can meen a multiple of things...but deff call your docture as soon as you can!
6 :
Nope, there are many possibilties of what could be causing, with roids being top of the list. However if you are bleeding often, get it checked out asap.
7 :
Not necessarily, but you should see a gastrointerologist ASAP. It could be any of a number of things that he could determine by performing a colonoscopy. The younger you are, the less likely it is colon cancer. I'm 46, and I was considered a little young. It could be a non-cancerous polyp of some kind, or any number of problems.
8 :
It depends on the color of Blood. Is it Bright Red, or "Black Like"? You may have Polyps, Hemmorids, (Internal or External) My husband had the same thing for YEARS before he was brave enough to have a Colonoscopy. He bled to death sometimes using a half roll of toilet paper, and having to throw out his underwear. He also stained the toilet bowl, that's how BAD It was. If you wipe and see blood on the toilet paper, 99 percent sure it is hemmorids, try using an over the counter creme, or plain ol' petroleum jelly or Zinc Oxide, it will soothe and heal the membranes.
9 :
Could mean hemorrhoids or colitis too - only a doctor can tell you. Good luck, Ann
10 :
Please do not come to the conclusion that it may not be COLON CANCER. Blood in bowel movements, on the toilet paper after wiping, or in the toilet bowl water is referred to as rectal bleeding. Rectal bleeding is a common problem for people of any age. There are many different things that could cause rectal bleeding, some more serious than others. The two most common causes are because of anal fissures and hemorrhoids. Either of these problems may be caused by constipation. Tiny tears, usually less than half an inch long on the skin of the anus are called anal fissures. The opening where the bowel movements pass is the anus. Fissures are caused usually by hard bowel movements. These tear the skin as they pass through the anus. Swollen veins located in the lower rectum and anus are referred to as hemorrhoids. They maybe see outside the anus or be internal. This means that they are inside the rectum and are not visible without the use of special instruments. In middle aged and older individuls rectal bleeding may be caused by diverticula in the colon. They are finger like pouches at the weak points in the wall of the colon. When the bowel movements go through these pouches occasionally they will become inflamed and bleed. The other possible causes of blood being in bowel movements may include an infection in the intestines. In this case the blood in the diarrhea will only last one to three days and then it will be gone. Another cause may be inflammatory bowel disease. This is an irritation of the lining of the colon. This will cause a person to have abdominal pains, diarrhea, and mucus and blood in the bowel movements. Blood in the stewel is also a symptoms of cancer in the colon or rectum. Lastly, there could be bleeding in the upper digestive system. This is a medical emergency and when this happens there is intensive and constant bleeding. Rectal bleeding appears to be bright red in the the bowel movements. There may or may not be pain with the passing of the bowel movement. If you have external hemrrhoids there may be pain when you sit. If you have diverticula, there may be no symptoms or you may have abdominal pains, but nothing constant. Other times you may have pain with a fever for a day or two if the diverticula become inflamed or infected. If the bleeding is caused by colon cancer, it may be the only symptom, or you may have other symptoms that include diarrhe, constipation, abdominal pain, weight loss, loss of appetite, and tiredness. Colon cancer is not a common cause of rectal bleeding, however it is more common for colon cancer to cause blood to be in the bowel movements. In this case the blood may not be visibe. There are special tests that may be performed to show that there is blood present in the stool. If you find that you have bleeding, make sure that you visit your health care provider. It is important to make sure that this is not a symptom of a serious illness. It could be something minor or a more hazardous problem. Rectal bleeding is not normal, and if it is nonstop or in large amounts you should go get emergency care. It is important to try to prevent rectal bleeding. You can help by keeping your lower intestine as clean as possible. Eat a healthy diet, drink lots of fluids, with a regular exercise plan. This will help prevent constipation, hemrrhoids and diverticula. However please consult your doctor immeidately for evalution and treatment as may be required. Best wishes -

In a manner DARDAR was straight to the Point. Your Question is a medical one, requiring a medical answer. There are many people >>out there, (maybe on Q&A) who may view this question and read Answers and then interpret the Answers to THEIR problem (which is similar to your Questions contents) and THEN falsely follow Advice given in Answers on Q&A..That's a "BIG" Problem.... BIG, BIG. .. So while DarDar talks about "us" Fools..perhaps she is right. Besides the DR. U have already visited and had examinations done..has made a correct diagnosis already. .. Good Question, though.

Can stage 1 colon cancer spread to the lungs

Can stage 1 colon cancer spread to the lungs?
My dad just had a ct scan of his chest. What are the chances of him having lung cancer
Cancer - 3 Answers

1 :
unfortunately, any cancer has the possibility of forming a metasteses (secondarys). Stage 1 is a very good stage as it is the earliest. You will have to wait until you get the results Keep positive for your dad
2 :
Stage 1 implies that the cancer is confined to one part of the colon. However, ANY cancer can spread. When Cancer has spread from another organ to the lungs, you would be at stage 4 cancer in most circumstances. 90% of colon cancer cases that are caught in Stage 1 are fully cured with surgery and possibly chemo. So the odds are very low anything will show up in his x-ray.
3 :
Yes any cancer can spread, but not at any stage. If his cancer has been staged it means he has already had surgery and once it was removed so was the cancer. No further treatment is needed and the cancer cannot spread. Your second question is what are the chances of him having lung cancer? That we cannot answer as you do not mention any risk factors. Clearly something is going on you do not understand. Your dad would have had an abdominal CT as part of his colon cancer work up before he had his surgery. If he is having a chest CT now it is not related to his colon cancer. You should go to a doctors appointment with him to discuss your concerns with his doctor yourself.

How long does it take to die from untreated colon cancer

How long does it take to die from untreated colon cancer?

There are different types of cancer that grow at different rates. And it also varies from individual to individual. Noone can predict how long it will take to die---the cancer frequently goes to other areas of the body, also. I had a friend who developed breast cancer. Her doctor told her that it was a type of cancer that is usually found in the lungs. (She was cured, by the way). So the types of cancer can vary---there are several types of cancers that can attack just about any area of the body.
2 :
It really depends on what stage the cancer is in. Is it "untreatable" or just not being treated? If its in the early stages, I would definitely try to treat it. Anyway, I knew someone that had colon cancer, and she lived another 12 years. Hers was not very advanced when the doctor found it.
3 :
It depends on the stage of the colon cancer. At stage 0 it takes 5 to 7 years for polyps to turn into cancer. At stage I and II, generally another 5 years, but is treatable At stage III cancer has affected other organs around the colon and life expectancy might slip down to 1 year or maximum 2, depending on the health state of the patient, At stage IV, cancer has spread to liver, kidneys, lungs and has become inoperable. Doctors would usually give 3 to max 6 months before death. On the other hand by taking 1 drug only life expectation is rised from 6 months,to 10 to 12 months, with 2 drugs, it goes to 14 to 16 months and with 3 drugs,, over 20 months. Another way of expressing is: rate of survival within 5 years at stage I, 93% at stage II 72 to 85% at stage III 44 to 83% at stage IV, 8% only with 2 drugs, it becomes

What is the numer one symptom that almost all colon cancer victims suffer from

What is the numer one symptom that almost all colon cancer victims suffer from?
What is/are the true symptoms?
Cancer - 7 Answers

1 :
Rectal bleeding, there really are no symptoms, however, blood work can unveil anemia, which could be a telltale symptom of internal bleeding, which is one of the only symptoms of the disease.
2 :
Bloody Stool (I just had a colon test so I know)
3 :
Not just blood in stool (sometimes the blood loss can be imperceptible) but changes in bowel movement as well. Diarrhea or constipation, a feeling you didn't void completely, narrower feces, cramps, tiredness or sudden weight loss.
4 :
There are a number of symptoms that should not be ignored. Blood in stool (detected by Hemaccult test) Abdominal pain/cramps Difficulty in eating, especially certain foods. Occasional diarrhea or constipation. A person should have a colonoscopy to detect colon cancer. This test will look at the entire length of the colon, not just the lower portion. This should be done before any surgery is performed. I don't know if she had a positive occult blood, but my mother had all of the other symptoms for months. Her doctor took out her gall bladder. When she complained to the doctor that the surgery hadn't resolved her symptoms, he finally did the colonoscopy and then surgery. She had a large tumor, stage IIIC in the upper ascending colon which had probably been growing for several years.
5 :
Almost all colon cancer victims suffer from late diagnosis for the cancer because it's too easy to put off visiting your doctor with non-specific digestive related issues/problems. Early detection and screening is important. Rectal exams and colon-related testing is not alot of fun, so people tend to put off and/or avoid visits to the doctor. If you suspect you have persisent digestive problems of any kind = see a doctor!
6 :
Colon cancer could be mostly wiped out if people would have colonoscopies to check for polyps and get them removed before they become a problem. I know, easier said than done. A colonoscopy is really not bad. The prep the day before is the worst part of it. If you have any worries or a family history of colon cancer, then get one. If you are past 50 you should have one every 5 years or as recommended by your doctor.
7 :
blood in the stool, bowel movements will become less often than normal and in smaller amounts, and could be a lot thinner, almost the size of a pencil. best thing to do is talk to your doctor. until you can do that, look up colon cancer signs and symptoms on the web. there is a lot of information there.

You should state: what colon cancer is what type of colon cancer you will focus on (adenocarcinoma is the most common type-I suggest that one) Discuss who is at risk the symptoms the treatment As for your poster, you should try to include pictures of what the cancer looks like grossly (this means when it is taken out of the body and you can see it with your own eyes) and histologically (this means what it looks like under the microscope) Here is an example of microscope pictures to use: http://library.med.utah.edu/WebPath/GIHTML/GI119.html here is an example of gross pictures to use: http://www.path.uiowa.edu/cgi-bin-pub/vs/fpx_gen.cgi?slide=669&viewer=java&lay=&jpg=1407 google images such as:"colon adenocarcinoma gross photos" or "colon adenocarcinoma histology" good luck!

What symptoms do I look for to show colon cancer is spreading through lymphnodes

What symptoms do I look for to show colon cancer is spreading through lymphnodes?

Cancer - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
go to your doctor!
2 :
The only way to know is after surgery. A biopsy following a colonoscopy can tell if there is cancer present, but the only way to know for sure if the lymph nodes have been invaded is after surgery (which is only performed if the tumor has gone into the colon wall--otherwise, there is no way the lymph nodes are invaded, since they are on the outside of the colon). The part that is removed will be inspected, and they will check then to see how many lymph nodes (if any) have been invaded.
3 :
Although crossstitchkelly̢۪s answer was very good, based on your other question your mother has already had surgery and you know the lymph nodes are involved. So the answer to your question is there are no symptoms that let you know it is spreading elsewhere. She will only get symptoms once it has and is large enough to cause symptoms.

If I had colon cancer wouldn't I be losing weight

If I had colon cancer wouldn't I be losing weight?
I have to have a colonscopy done because of Low Iron Doctor is worried colon cancer. Well wouldn't I be losing weight & see blood in my stool if this was the case? I am not losing any weight ( I wish I would lose weight) and I never see blood.
Cancer - 2 Answers

You can have colon (or any) cancer and be asymptomatic.
2 :
Not necessarily. When any cancer begins to develop, there are no initial symptoms. When you do have blood in the stools and begin to loose weight, then your cancer, (if you had it) would really start to manifest itself. You know, my iron is extremely low and I take a supplement but my Gastroenterologist never once said he was afraid of cancer. There has to be something else. Are you sure the colonoscopy isn't just routine? Maybe it's time for the tests again. I have one every year. Perhaps he mentioned the low iron level then said a colonoscopy in the same sentence. I don't know. Low iron means anemia depending how low it is. I'm going to look it up because you've peaked my curiosity. I wish you well, but just don't worry, OK. Wait for test results and I have to say, it you do have colon cancer and you're not showing symptoms. then it was caught very early. I still don't think so, but whatever your Dr feels. How old are you because that's a huge factor in determining certain cancers and this is one of them.

Can hemorroids lead to colon cancer

Can hemorroids lead to colon cancer?
My aunt told me that hemorroids will turn into colon cancer, she has her's surgically removed and advised that you had to, otherwise the hemorroids will turn into cancer. I have the same thing but i dont want to have surgery, should i be concerned?
Other - Health - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Your aunt is wrong. Hemmorhoids are unrelated to colon cancer.
2 :
yes you should and have a check up every time the Dr recommends it
3 :
Nope, they are just blood vessels that grew too large under the pressure of going to the toilet or the pressure of being overweight. The thing that can turn into colon cancer though, is called polyp. A polyp is an abnormal growth of tissue (tumor) projecting from a mucous membrane, like in the bowels.
4 :
"Hemorrhoids are enlarged veins located just under the skin in the lower rectum and anus. They can become inflamed, leading to itching and discomfort, especially during a bowel movement. They can also thrombose (clot), causing severe pain. Hemorrhoids can also bleed, and such bleeding is what often brings them to the attention of patients and doctors. Many colonoscopies are done for rectal bleeding. The reason for these exams is not simply to diagnose hemorrhoidal bleeding, but to rule out more serious causes of bleeding such as colon cancer. Colon cancer often causes no symptoms early on. However, later symptoms include bleeding from the rectum, constipation, a change in bowel habits and fatigue because of anemia due to bleeding. Thus, it is important not to assume that rectal bleeding stems from hemorrhoids until other causes of bleeding have been ruled out. To answer your question, there is no known association between hemorrhoids and colon cancer, so hemorrhoids are not a sign of colon cancer. In addition, there is no risk of hemorrhoids becoming cancerous. Unlike hemorrhoids, which involve the veins, colon cancer begins as a small polyp in the lining of the colon.
