How painful is it to die of colon cancer

How painful is it to die of colon cancer?
Is the pain unbearable, or is it manageable? Not saying I have colon cancer, just wondering if it's very painful

I have the same trouble often. Good luck with solving this issue. I very much sympathize with you!
2 :
Actually, these people often die with liver metastases. Liver failure is not terribly painful. Most of these folks lapse into comas and are unaware at death. Pain can almost always be controlled with good physician / nursing / hospice care.

Do you think I should have kids if I have a disease that leads to colon cancer

Do you think I should have kids if I have a disease that leads to colon cancer?
I found out I have FAP when I was 12 and I was just wondering if anybody has had kids when they have had it, but not passed it on to their kids. I already have pre-cancerous cells in my stomach and colon, and I have to have surgury this summer. I'm turning 15 in June. I told my boyfriend about it and he wants to be at the hospital when i have my surgury. Do you think I'm going in the right direction? Or should I just adopt so I can't take a risk?

FAP is an autosomal dominant genetic disease, meaming that you need only one defective gene copy to have it. What it means is that for every child you and your boyfriend will have (assuming he does not have FAP himself), there's 50% chances that he/she will have it. That's awful odds. This is your decision, both you and your boyfriend. You have lived with this disease, and you know what it entails. Personnaly, I would adopt. I know its a difficult decision. My cousin just had a severely handicapped baby and we are in the process of verifying on which side of the family the mutation originated...

Good for you for being so thoughtful and unselfish as to not wish this on your children. Very few people I know of are as bright as you in this regard. It will definitely save you grief in the future and from what I understand one loves an adopted child just every bit as much as biologic.
3 :
You need genetic counseling. Ask your doctor to refer you.

black raspberries maybe? http://www.nutraingredients.com/news/ng.asp?id=35276-black-raspberries-to i would also recommend taking raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar diluted with distilled water on a daily basis. it helps with many illnesses.
2 :
I guess ginger is a food, so ginger is the best food for combating existing colon cancer. I think I should know because that is what I used to cure my colon cancer. Read "How to cure cancer with ginger" at http://www.geocities.com/cure.cancer/
3 :
I am not sure about simple food, but in the lab of our collaborators people are testing a lot of extracts from natural products for their to reduce inflammation and colon cancer (it is mainly prevention, but you never know!). These are extracts from : apples, olive oil, gingseng, curcumin (a spice found in curry) and berries. I think it is better to rely on medicines, though, as you would need tons of these foods to achieve the same result!

Does gingivitis or periodontis disease has any link to colon cancer

Does gingivitis or periodontis disease has any link to colon cancer?
If a person eats breakfast before brushing his teeth and is not aware that he has gingivitis or periodontis disease. Will he gets colon cancer? Is there any link? Should he change his routine to eat breakfast after brushing his teeth?

I have heard that some researchers believe that there is a link between gingivitis or periodontal disease and colon cancer. But it is not really proven , though some of the evidence supports the theory . My mother suffered from gingivitis and she died from colon cancer. I do my best to look after my teeth and gums and rinse my mouth twice a day with a mouthwash . If you are worried either get advice from a dentist , or if you get gum disease go to a pharmacy and get something there . At the very least rinse with a solution of salt water , I often use that too . I brush my teeth after eating morning and evening , it seems more logical than brushing before eating . Flossing is also a good idea , it is a hassle at first but does help to preserve teeth and gums .

Not really sure that I have the answer to your question, but I do know that before my father-in-law was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, the dentist asked him if he had any major health issues going on. At the time, my father-in-law didn't think so. After he discovered he had the cancer, he asked the dentist about it, and the dentist claims that sometimes they can tell by your gums & teeth that there are more serious things going on, they just don't know what. Like I said, don't know if that truly answers your question, but thought I'd share the info.

How long does it take for colon cancer to spread to other organs

How long does it take for colon cancer to spread to other organs?
I'm pretty much interested in knowing what the time frame is. Does it take a week? A month? A year? Several years? Thanks ahead of time.

Wouldn't it depend on how one takes care of one's self after finding out they have it?
2 :
I think it is different for everyone and it depends on whether the treatment for the colon cancer works or not. I knew someone with colon cancer and I think it spread in 9 months to a year.
3 :
it can vary widely, obviously the longer a person has it the greater the chances are that it has spread
4 :
it actually depends on the type of cancer because there are different grades of colon cancer. usually it takes several years.
5 :
This depends on many variables which only a trained and experienced oncologist can reasonably understand and evaluate. You may want to look at Mike Murray's How to Prevent and Treat Cancer with Natural Medicine for different approaches to dealing with the disease and its complications. Good luck!

Colon cancer from 2005&2006 now spread to lungs. How long does she have to live

Colon cancer from 2005&2006 now spread to lungs. How long does she have to live?
Mom's cancer now spread to her lungs by confirmation of x-ray and biopsies. Had a bone scan and is in her skull, pelvic area and legs. She has knots on her head and severe pain in her cheekbones. She started chemo. on Tuesday(06-17). Anyone else seen this? I 'd like to know how long she has to live.

I would talk to her doctors. Everyone is different. God bless!
2 :
I am so sorry to hear this, but it is a good sign she is getting treatments, that means the Dr.'s are hopeful that she will once again beat this. A lot depends on the type of cancer not necessarily where the cancer is. I wish there was a crystal ball to tell you how long she may have, it could be 6 months to 20yrs. but we both know that the man upstairs is who determines when it is time to go. If I could, I would have done the same with my Dad, but he battled for over a year and he was a trooper, it was just too far before they even realized what was going on. Please don't give up yet, but make every day a day to remember. If there is something she has always wanted to do make the time to do it, because the time goes faster than you realize and treasure every moment you have with her, don't dwell on her prognosis.

What does it mean when a terminally ill colon cancer patient becomes juandiced

What does it mean when a terminally ill colon cancer patient becomes juandiced?
Is it normal or does it mean something bad is going to happen? Does it mean the end is near?

1 :
jaundice is the liver shutting down. It can't clear the toxins - the blood becomes dirty and can't carry oxygen. In your search area type "jaundice" and read the information.
2 :
It means that the main organs are starting to shut down. It is not a good sign.
3 :
Jaundice is caused by an increase in bilirubin. Bilirubin is created when old red blood cells are broken down and "recycled" by the body. When the liver begins to fail (which may be the result of metastatic cancer in the liver), the bilirubin can no longer be properly filtered from the blood and it begins to accumulate in higher than normal levels. This causes yellowing of the skin, oral mucosa, and whites of the eyes. It may also cause itching, which can sometimes be relieved by a drug called Atatrax. In a patient with colon cancer, jaundice is a sign that the cancer has spread to the liver (Stage IV). While the patient can still be treated effectively with chemo and radiation, there is no cure for a cancer this advanced. Update: It does not necessarily mean the organ is "shutting down." It just means it's not working properly. Some tumor growth can be irradiated or shrunk with chemotherapy, improving liver function and prolonging life.
