If it isn't responding to treatment, the outcome is grim. It will most likely spread to more areas of the body and the person will inevitable not survive much longer. Very sad.
2 :
When cancer stops responding to treatment than the disease will continue to grow indefinitely and spred throughout the body. There is usually palliative treatment offered to keep the patient comfortable and it is even possible to try Clinical Trials in an effort to bring the disease under control. In some cases efforts can be made to control the disease rather than try and 'cure' it . . and the patient can live with his cancer. Best thing to do if you know someone in this situation and they want to continue in treatment is to ask about Clinical Trials . . there are many new drugs available for cancer patients, the trials are usually sponsored so there is no cost involved. Clinical Trials will give the patient access to the newest available treatments although it is a chance.

By "any treatment" I assume that you mean any conventional treatment. Most tumors contain a small percentage, approximately 2%, of MDR (multiple drug-resistant) cells. Chemo is not effective against these cells. After the first round of chemo, if the chemo is effective, all of the cells that are not MDR, are destroyed. Since this accounts for the vast majority of the tumor mass, the tumor appears to be effectively destroyed. However, the MDR cells remain and start to multiply. If the cancer reoccurs due to MDR cells, the new tumor is likely to be entirely MDR. The next time chemo is used, none of the cells will be destroyed because they are all MDR. This is why giving chemo after a cancer reoccurs often fails to have any effect. Only alternative health care has treatments that have been shown to be effective against MDR cells. These include Paw Paw and Graviola. Have you read this Paw Paw page:

Have you or a family member had colon cancer that spread to liver now liver has 5 tumors

Have you or a family member had colon cancer that spread to liver now liver has 5 tumors?

No. I had breast cancer. If they catch cancer early, your survival rate is good.
2 :
My wife had colon cancer and the tumor was the size of a football. We were lucky that it had not spread to any other organs. The doctors as Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN were able to remove the tumor, but she did have to take chemo and radiation after words, in case there was any microscopic cancer cells left behind. We were told the best treatment for colon cancer is surgery. Good luck to you and your family.
3 :
The doctors first attempt to shrink the tumors using chemotherapy. If it succeeds, depending on the location and size of the tumor tumors in the liver - they will attempt a surgery to remove the remains of the tumor. It is rarely done when there are more than two tumors. If surgery is not possible, there are semi-experimental treatments such as radio-frequency ablation and photo-dynamic therapy which attempt to kill the tumor cells without a surgery of the liver. There are few experts which can do that. Again, with many tumors the chances of cure are not that high, but you may get a substantial life extension.

What does one do to lessen the chances of getting colon cancer

What does one do to lessen the chances of getting colon cancer?
Besides exercise.

eat a lot of vege and defecate everyday

Cancer lives in an acidic environment. Vegetables/fruits among other things are alkaline and keep the body balanced in this acidic world. If your colon is clean you lead a much healthier and happier life. Most health problems start in the colon. If the bad stuff doesn't get out, then is stays in your body. Check out this website. Many have found answers to a happy colon - and many other health problems they didn't think were related.
3 :
To lessen your risk of getting any type of cancer, a diet high in vitamin-rich fruits and vegetables is important (remember, the darker the color, the better ie romain lettuce is way better than iceburg lettuce) and try to get lots of different colors each day. Also whole grains are important; limit processed carbs. Exercise regularly Don't smoke Diets rich in fiber are particularly beneficial in reducing your risk of colon cancer. (You should cut back amimal fats.) If you have a family history of colon cancer, be sure to tell your doctor. Usually they will begin screening for it (and polyps) at 40 or 45 rather than the standard 50. my clarinet teacher's (also my neighbor) husband had colon cancer three years ago, he went through chemo and he's doing great. it looks like the chemo worked, his hair grew back, and he went back to work. although every case is different, doctors have made huge strides in curing cancer. just remain positive and i'm sure your mom will be fine
2 :
Listen to this. Carlos is a great friend of mine. He had colon cancer, stage 2. Had 60% of his intestines removed, and during the procedure they found out he had lung cancer, too. He's been going through chemo and radiation for over 2 years now. He walks 3 miles every single day. One day, he slipped and fell, but after a week he was back to business as usual. Carlos is 83 years old. If he did it, your mom can, too. This world is full of survivors, and beating cancer takes determination and strength, but it can be done. My best friend survived breast cancer, stage 2, also. My brother in law is fighting against brain cancer, and looks like we have a winner. It's a hard, long road, full of battles that can be won. Be there for her, give her strength, comfort her. Help her now as she helped you when you were little, you'll see, she will be a winner, too. God bless!

if the dr discovered the cancer early enough there is a good possibility of survival.ask your mom if you can go with her for her next exam, if you can ask a few questions.i know what your going thru,it isnt easy

I heard of a Filipina who had cancer, took virgin coconut oil for her daily meals... salad, cooking oil, a spoonful or 2 as vitamin supplement. When doctor(s) examined her, cancer had disappeared within a year. Virgin coconut oil has ingredients (45%) similar to what a newly-born baby sucks from the mother, which is anti-body, and prevents baby from getting sick. I have been taking it as a daily supplement. Am 72 y.o. and active in life. Hope your Mom's cancer is benign.
5 :
Hang in there give your mom all the love and let her know that she is a winner.Make her smile everyday .Believe me being a mum she will not give in to this illness easy.Take care and think positive.
6 :
my dad, brother & sister, aunt and several uncles are colon cancer survivors

Why is colon cancer considered to be the only cancer that can be prevented and cured

Why is colon cancer considered to be the only cancer that can be prevented and cured?
please answer a.s.a.p., i mean now, or before morning

It's not the only one. If people do things deliberately, like smoke, they can cause cancer (lung cancer) so your statement is incorrect. Also by exposing yourself to harmful drugs, like cocaine, people can develop conditions that lead to cancer. Chemicals, like cleaning fluid, can cause liver cancer, as can alcohol.Colon cancer is Not the only one.
2 :
Can't imagine where you heard that from. Not true. You can live well, eat healthy, etc to possibly lower the chances of getting some cancers, but nothing prevents cancer except maybe dying young. Many cancers can be considered cured if you've gone a certain number of years without it recurring, but it's never 100%.
3 :
Your statement is incorrect. The likelihood of contracting many cancers is decreased through good health habits such as not smoking, eating a variety of foods, limiting fat intake, maintaining a healthy weigh, and getting regular exercise. Many different cancers may be treated successfully with surgery, chemo, radiation, cancer recurrence-prevention therapies, or a combination thereof.
4 :
Colon Cancer isn't the only cancer that can be cured, Hodgkin's Lymphoma is one of the most curable kinds of cancer where the 5 year survival rate is likely between 95-99% And really any kind of cancer can be prevented with living a healthy lifestyle and having annual check ups like pap smears or the HPV vaccine.

How long does it typical take colon cancer to develop

How long does it typical take colon cancer to develop?
about a year ago i had my stool test, and one of them had blood, but i don't have any trouble going stool or anything else, if one of the test had blood does that mean i have cancer, and since it was a year ago does that mean it alread spread.

1 :
There are many reasons to have blood in your stool. If the test was done by a doctor you should have had a follow up to see if it is still there. If you are concerned about it being cancer you need to see a doctor.
2 :
Depending on your age, if you are very young you needn't worry, but if you are approaching 50 you should get a colonoscopy to rule out cancerous polyps. Fecal occult blood can have many causes, and cancer is one of the worst of them.

If someone had colon cancer, would they be able to have a bowel movement or no

If someone had colon cancer, would they be able to have a bowel movement or no?
I can't have a bowel movement by just 'pushing' i had to put my finger in and massage around the anus in order to defecate. Then, only a little tiny piece came out but when I removed my finger, my finger had a drop of blood on it. Is this cancer or just something else? I'm 22, no risk factors.

Please don't do that, it is very dangerous to manually remove it. You are probably just constipated. Do this: Drink 1 mug of HOT Prune Juice, OR 10 Dried Apricots. You WILL Have a Bowel Movement. Have been using this rememdy since I was 10 years old...

What is the life expectancy of a person with colon cancer

What is the life expectancy of a person with colon cancer?
sorry, I didn't mean to repeat a question asked eairler. That question was about stage four cancer, are there other thoughts about other stages?

1 :
I am not a doctor, nor do I know anyone with colon cancer. But, I am pretty sure it would depend on the person, the treatment they are receiving, and their immune system. I am sorry that someone in your life has been diagnosed with this and best wishes in the future. Prayers are with you.
2 :
Stage I is cured with the surgery.
3 :
I hope it's long... a family member was just diagnosed.
4 :
There really is no reliable way to answer this question. As someone already mentioned, it's dependent on the individual. People with stage 1 are often cured through surgery or other treatments. For the other stages, it all depends on the individual, the treatments chosen, and how long they decide to have the treatments. It is also dependent on if they go into a remission, which there is no way to set a timetable for that.
5 :
It can be cured. Colon Cleanse http://www.soundfeelings.com/free/colon_cleansing.htm#recipe Take a look at the site below which explains many misunderstood things about the cancer industry, and has some natural cures too. Cancer http://dgwa1.fortunecity.com/body/cancer.html
