No it is not.
2 :
It's more common for people over 60, and I believe men are at a higher risk than women.
3 :
Hell no! It usually don't raise it's ugly head until mid - 40s.
4 :
It's common in any age, even children. It's more in women actually, the symptoms are hard to breath, you don't go to the bathroom so often... and you don't have apetite and you don't wanna to eat anything.
5 :
colon cancer can happen at any time and is now on the rise in America. I just had four feet of my colon removed due to cancer and they got it all. The only symptom I had ( and i had it fairly continuous for 4-5 years prior, was constipation but I never thught cancer until I threw up stool and then realized that the constipation had to be due to a blockage and I had a peach sized tumor removed two weeks later----I had no symptoms until then but you could have tenderness in the abdomen, swelling and constipation if you have any continuing problems your physiciab will order a colonoscopy to make sure for you and put your mind at ease
6 :
My grandma had it at 82. I'm not sure of the statistics for age or sex it affects. My gram was bleeding everytime she went to the bathroom. That was the only symptom she had.
7 :
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a common and lethal disease. The risk of developing CRC is influenced by both environmental and genetic factors. Approximately 145,290 new cases of large bowel cancer are diagnosed each year in the United States, of which 104,950 are colon and the remainder rectal cancers. In 2005, more than 56,000 Americans will die of CRC, accounting for approximately 10% of all cancer deaths. In the United States, CRC ranks second to lung cancer as a cause of cancer death, and it is third both in frequency and cause of cancer death, in men and women separately. Age is a major risk factor for sporadic CRC. It is a rare diagnosis before the age of 40, the incidence begins to increase significantly between the ages of 40 and 50, and age-specific incidence rates increase in each succeeding decade thereafter. The lifetime incidence of CRC in patients at average risk is about 5%, with 90% of cases occurring after age 50. The incidence is higher in patients with specific inherited conditions that predispose them to the development of CRC. Environmental and genetic factors can increase the likelihood of developing CRC. Although inherited susceptibility results in the most striking increases in risk, the majority of CRCs are sporadic rather than familial. At least some data supports the view that family history (as well as physical activity level) are stronger contributors to colon cancer as opposed to rectal cancer risk. Associated risk factors: 1. Familial adenomatous polyposis 2. Hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer 3. Personal or family history of sporadic cancers or adenomatous polyps 4. Inflammatory bowel disease 5. Diabetes mellitus and insulin resistance 6. Alcohol 7. Cigarette smoking Hope this helped ;) -random physician

Can a liver with mets from colon cancer be trans planted

Can a liver with mets from colon cancer be trans planted?

could be theoritcally but hos prognosis is bad , and other people deserve it more
2 :
if you've contacted UNOS, that's the only way in the US. I know of people going overseas (singapore, etc) but that's much more risky, it's a lot more unknown and a lot less regulated. If his colon has been removed that i suppose it's a possibility, but I doubt UNOS will have anything to do with it since it might have spread elsewhere and the tumors haven't grown big enough to detect yet.
3 :
It is unlikely that he would get a liver from the donor list because of his cancer/prognosis.
4 :
UNOS can help you. However, since your friend has another form of concer it's unlikely they would give him an organ anytime in the next several years. People with other kinds of rampant cancer don't get organs, organs are generally for those whose organs are failing, but aren't cancerous or metastatic.
5 :
I REALY THINK THE ANSWER IS NO......HE HAS AN UNDERLYING DISEASE.
6 :
i dont think is possible ,,,once its mets to the liver form the colon it sounds more invasive... sorry... sounds like there is more involvemnet than that like lymph nodes.. once in lymph nodes is pretty bad...
7 :
Good evening. I had a bi-lateral lung transplant a little over two years ago due to Cystic Fibrosis so while my experience is not related to the liver specifically there are certain things that are common between all organ transplants. Anyone receiving an organ transplant must be on immunosuppression medications for the rest of their life to prevent their body from rejecting the new organs. Accordingly, with the reduced immune system, we are already at a higher risk of new illnesses/diseases. Certain types of cancer are more possible with the immunosuppression but if someone already has cancer then being immunosuppressed in this manner will only allow the cancer to either worsen or come back if initially cured. I'm sorry to tell you that I don't foresee any of the US transplant centers accepting your friend into their program due to the pre-existing colon cancer. There may be programs in foreign countries that would accept him but given the shortage of donor organs it's unlikely that you would find such a program or that it would not be at a prohibitive cost. However, your friend should discuss the possibilities with his oncologist. Individuals must be referred to a transplant program and are not just considered for listing because they want to be listed. Best wishes to you and your friend.
8 :
In the US, people who have cancer in other areas of their body other than the liver would not be considered for a liver transplant. If they transplanted the liver into this person, it is likely that the cancer would recur in the liver and the patient would end up dying from the cancer eventually.

You should be... these are sure signs of cancer. But not colon cancer... this is a sure case of kidney cancer. You must have your cancerous kidney removed immediately. The procedure is hard to do on short notice, but you should walk into the hospital and tell them exactly what you want. Do this very soon.
2 :
Don't panic, could just be you have full bowels or gas.

Honey it sounds as though you are constipated and the pain you feel is from the stool being compacted in there.Tell mom and she will give you a stool softener and within less than a day you should poop and feel way better.Try eating fibre cereal in the morning so it doesnt happen again.Even Shreddies should be enuf fibre.Dont worry just tell mom.
2 :
Unless there is a family history, this is very uncommon under the age of 50! You are probably just constipated. Drink more water, eat less junk food, more fibre and get some exercise.
3 :
Nope I don't think it's cancer. It's just probably the result of what you eat. Did you know that a lot of what you eat today is not healthy? You can be eating all those tempting fast foods and yet they don't even have nutrients that can be used by the body. Aside from processed foods, there are other types which could be considered dangerous to your health like junk foods and fake foods. All of these do not contain any nutritional value that your body needs. It is not easily absorbed and digested by your body.

Colon Cancer Warning Signs?
So my aunt recently dies of colon cancer, and since not a single other person in our family has had it, the doctor told us to be weary of a new strain. So i have never been constipated or irregular my entire life. Until latley. Over the last months, from january to now, i've been constipated about 4 times i think. No bloating, blood, mucus, ect. Just constipation. Could i just need to change my diet (i don't eat often), or just take in more fiber, ect ect. 14, male.

If you're 14, I wouldn't be too concerned, but constipation is a symptom. You may just need to change your diet. http://coloncancer.about.com/od/cancerprevention/a/Cancer_Symptoms.htm
2 :
Hi: To find out if you have colon cancer you have to go have a colon- oscapy but usually you have diarrhea all the time and black tar like very very bad smell. diarrhea. so If you are worried ask to see a doc. usually you need a coloniscopy around 40 years of age. I hope this helps.

I would talk to your parents about it. I doubt too many people on YahooAnswers can diagnose anything, so I would see a doctor...
2 :
I am not saying that it CAN NOT happen, but the chances are EXTREMELY slim given your age. Go to the doctor and they will just take a quick look and probably be able to give you an answer. Chances are it's hemmoroids or something, but just to be safe see the doctor.
3 :
It might not be colon cancer. You're pretty young. It might be something more like constipation problems due to lack of water and fiber intake. It could be hemorrhoids.... Best thing, though, is to tell your parents and then have them take you to a doctor.
4 :
you just post a question about swine flu?! you are a hypochondriac
5 :
do noy be scared I am 13 to and listen I am an ecxpert on poop and such I am sure its not colon cancer ask your mom and dad um go to a doc
6 :
you could be constipated or backed up, try eating veggetables and fruits. If there is still a problem/issue with it then ask your parents to make a doctors appointment.
7 :
HAHAHA!!! See what you get for being gay? Use more lube next time.
8 :
You are SOOOOO paranoid! I like how you just asked a question about swine flu too. You need to get over it and live a little. I'm 13 and don't give a crap about how I feel. JUST LIVE WHILE YOU CAN.

Do anal fissures cause colon cancer

Do anal fissures cause colon cancer?
Does having anal fissures mean it will cause cancer in the future?
Cancer - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
I don't see how this would happen. Nothing from the anus should enter the colon, and the fissure itself will not cause cancer (especially not of a different area). However, what is diagnosed as an anal fissure (for example bleeding) may turn out to actually be colon cancer, though I think the doctors would look around a little first.
2 :
any unhealed wound with frequent pus formation and no efforts to heal up, can become a source of transfer.
3 :
if it is associated with ulcerative colitis/chrohns disease it can go for colon cancer
4 :
no but the symptoms can be very similar - it can be misdiagnosed

I had this op 3 years ago. The scar has faded a lot but is still visible. You could hide it with an interesting tattoo. I don't think it will ever go away.

I'm in the exact same situation. I had two operations for colon cancer and am due to have a third so my belly looks really scarred. And I'm only 20! No more bikinis for me I think! But I've started rubbing vitamin e oil on it, as in I get a vitamin e capsule, pop it and rub in the oil. A nurse at the hospital recommended that to me, but I have only just started doing that so will keep u updated! Can u let me know if you find anything that works!
