What is the most common sign of colon cancer

consistent diarrhea

It could be hemorrhoids. If you've never had them, they are painful and do cause blood in stools. When was the last time you had a colonsocopy? Never put those off. That's the best way to find colon cancer. If this happens again, by all means contact your DR. Don't take any chances. I wish you the best
3 :
Colon cancer is cancer of the large intestine (colon), the lower part of your digestive system. Rectal cancer is cancer of the last several inches of the colon. Together, they're often referred to as colorectal cancers. Signs and symptoms of colon cancer include: -A change in your bowel habits, including diarrhea or constipation or a change in the consistency of your stool for more than a couple of weeks -Rectal bleeding or blood in your stool -Persistent abdominal discomfort, such as cramps, gas or pain -A feeling that your bowel doesn't empty completely -Weakness or fatigue -Unexplained weight loss -Many people with colon cancer experience no symptoms in the early stages of the disease. When symptoms appear, they'll likely vary, depending on the cancer's size and location in your large intestine. BUT I FEEL YOU ARE HAVING ONLY PILES AND HENCE YOU GOT BLOOD AND PAIN. PLEASE TELL YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT IT AND HE WILL BE ABLE TO TELL YOU CORRECTLY.-
4 :
Your question is “What is the most common sign of colon cancer? The answer is rectal bleeding. However, a single symptom is not reason for cancer to be a consideration and at your age it is not likely. If it persists or you start getting other symptoms see your doctor. In the meantime consider your eating habits if you are straining it could be hemorrhoids or fissures so you may want to consider adding fiber to your diet. Although a colonoscopy can be done at any time if indicated they are not recommended until you are 50 years old so you are not putting anything off.

What are the symptoms of end of life with advanced colon cancer

What are the symptoms of end of life with advanced colon cancer.?
A person has advanced cancer AND advanced alzheimers. Now sleeping a lot..as in most of the day and night. Can no longer walk, chew, etc... Does all of this denote a time frame of survival?

Depends on the meds for the colon cancer. If it's end stage, I'm thinking this patient would be on a heavy duty sublingual painkiller--which would explain sleeping a lot, etc. End stage of any cancer usually involves sleeping, very slight breaths and no food intake. I'm sorry.

My father-in-law stopped eating, drinking, ect about a week before he passed. He was sent home from the hospital with hospice and they told he would only live a few weeks - they were right. He slept the last week before he passed and when he was awake he was incoherent. Is this person at home or in the hospital??? If they are still receiving fluids I would think they would still live awhile.
3 :
My husband died of colon cancer this past June. In the last weeks, he couldn't eat anything. He completely relied on a feeding tube. He also had a lot of pain (back, stomach, heartburn). He could not longer sleep in bed because of the pressure in his chest. He slept sitting up in a chair. I don't think you can really say there is a time frame. I think it just depends on the individual's body. It holds out for so long and then just goes. My husband seemed to be doing a little better and within 10 hours his kidneys failed, his blood pressure and pulse continued on a downward spiral, he was losing blood internally, his white blood cell count skyrocketed and he became unconscious.

Do any of you know any websites of where i can find something about who discovered colon cancer and how long it has harmed us?

What is the treatment for colon cancer that was removed 5 years ago but has returned in the lung

What is the treatment for colon cancer that was removed 5 years ago but has returned in the lung?
The patient is 93 years old. The doctor has declined to do another colonoscopy but did an endoscopy and whole body bone scan which came back negative. I'm frustrated because she is my mother and they seem to think her case is hopeless.

I don’t know what the point of another colonoscopy would be. Is she having bowel problems? The standard treatment, if she wants it, is more chemo, but at 93 years of age why would you want to put her through that for a few more months of life? If her lung mets are causing her problems they could do some radiation to relieve the symptoms. At stage 4 her cancer is not curable.
2 :
the cancer has already metastasized. there might have been a few cancer cells that escaped from and became resistant to the treatment. im really sorry :((
3 :
Now you need to talk with the hospice people and focus on her comfort. Don't stress her out with more cancer treatments. Make her last months happy and comfortable.

you can get colon cancer at any age and get to a doctor to make sure hope its not
2 :
It doesn't sound like cancer. Its much more likely to be a hemorrhoid. (That would be unusual in a 14 year old, but not as rare as colon cancer.) Bottom line: Its not normal. Get it checked out.

Although symptoms in the early stages are often vague and nonspecific, most patients with colorectal cancer have one or more of the following symptoms at presentation: abdominal pain, change in bowel habits(diarrhea, constipation), bloody stools, rectal bleeding, and symptoms related to iron-deficiency anemia. Colon cancer should be considered in any older patient who develops iron-deficiency anemia. Later symptoms include indigestion, pain with tenderness in the lower abdomen, pallor, ascites, cachexia, lymphadenopathy, and hepatomegaly.. The Etiology: The risk of developing colon cancer increases with age. More than 90% of cases after the age of 50. The highest incidents are in the Western Europe, and North America, possibly because of the higher average dietary fat intake in those countries. Adenomas of the colon are thought to be the precursor lesion of colorectal cancer. Adenomas are composed of dysplastic epithelium that has proliferated to form a mass. Treatment: Surgical resection of the affected part of the colon or rectum, as well as any affected lymph nodes, is the mainstay of treatment. A colostomy may be necessary if the surgeon cannot reconnect the parts of the colon. Metastatic colon cancer can be treated by surgery if the metastasis(usually to the liver) can be removed as well.Radiation therapy is useful in treating cancer confined to the rectum.Prevention: Relatively simple improvements in nutrition and physical activity and the use of available screening procedures could help prevent many cases of colorectal cancer and resulting deaths. A diet high in fruits, and vegetables, regular exercise, and maintantenace of a healthy weight reduce the risk of colorectal cancer, as do regular use of aspirin or NSAIDS oral contraceptives, and estrogen replacement therapy..

Hi, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. My mum suffered from colon cancer with metastasis in the liver. You do not say if he is taking chemo, when my mum took chemo she did frequently vomit. My mum did have surgery of the colon but unfortunately the cancer in the liver was not curable and she passed away 8 months ago at the age of 60.This does not mean that everyone dies of cancer, my mums friend suffered from colon cancer and she is now in remission and living life to the fullest.I pray everyday for a cure for all types of cancer. I wish your father all the best in the future.

Perhaps you should look into what alternative medicine has to offer for your situation, which is--a great deal. I have relevant information outside the scope of this question. Click on my icon and email me if you're interested, and I'll send you the complete answer. You'll be glad you did. Somebody here keeps getting it unjustly taken off as 'spam and advertisement' because the same information applies to everyone with cancer. And no, I'm not selling anything or getting a dime from anyone. Just want to help. Best of luck.
7 :
Tell him to take emu oil gel caps 3 per day. Emu oil kills caner cells and is safe to take. One should always consult their doctor before trying anything new.
8 :
Please stop all the chemo therapy and doctor recommended medicines right away. Doctors dont want you to know of the alternative medicines that can actually CURE CANCER. If a doctor tells you the alternative medicines, they will be out of a job. How much does it cost for chemo therapy each time you take in those chemicals? This medicine is better and only $75 dollars a bottle. Each bottle lasts a month. You take an ounce per day, and after each dose, you eat a banana or eat potatoes. its called "CESIUM CHLORIDE." The problem with chemo therapy is that they always say that they never know how each person will be affected by the chemicals. You could die the next day, or you can die in a month. BUT, you cannot live past 2 years. So, its not a good garauntee that you will extend your life for 2 years. The reason is because chemo therapy is a toxin. A poison that kills your body. And if it kills the cancers before it kills you then you are cured. And if the cancer dies before you die, you probably wont live past 5 years. Because even after the cancer is killed, your body is completely deteriorated. I bet you cannot ask 100 people who knew someone who went to chemo therapy and lived more then 5 years after defeating cancer. You might get lucky and find like 2 people. What are your chances that you will be that 2 lucky people that live? So, how good of a cure can chemo therapy be? The key to defeating cancer is all over the net. But the people who sell these alternatives cannot say on their labels that their medicines cure cancer. It is against FDA rules. The reason is because if this is done, then doctors, hospitals, and pharmaceautical companies cannot make any money. So, according to FDA, it has to be stated on the bottles that it is for vitamins only, etc etc. You can go find these medicines and take care of your cancers in 3 to 12 months. Just listen to me as I dont make anything off of this. I am only here to help. I am sick of these doctors and big companies making money off dyng people. Doctors wont tell you either. Its against their rules. Well, gee, they were ones who created these rules, so go figure. I believe there were like alot of medicines that take care of cancers. There is a top 10 list somewhere. I think cesium chloride is listed number 1 or 2 on the list. I found a good bottle of this on www.nutrition2000.com. I think this was the address. You can always search the internet. Get the one that contains rubidium (I think this is how it is spelt). This helps your body absorb the medicine. Good luck my friend. And please pass this information to everybody you know that needs it.

How long does chemo therapy last .....colon cancer

How long does chemo therapy last .....colon cancer?
I have a friend taking chemo for colon cancer almost a year.....what's the longest one typically has chemo??
Cancer - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
for my colon cancer, my chemo lasted 6 months with 5 sessions a month (5 sessions for first week with rest for next 3 weeks), and i thought that was typical
2 :
it depends, I have seen people have chemo non stop until they progress, then they might be changed to another regimen or drug.. it depends on how the tumor reacts to the chemo drugs and if it responds to it... ther is no one standard answer for your question....
3 :
Chemo can last indefinitely depending on the type of treatment. There are some chemo pills that a patient will take daily. So it really depends on the type of chemo and the reason behind taking the chemo . . there are some cancers that can only be controlled (not cured) by taking a daily pill. In general the chemo will last until it is no longer controlling the growth rate of the cancer. My son took chemotherapy for three years.
