Could there be a connection between colon cancer treatment and massive stroke

Could there be a connection between colon cancer treatment and massive stroke?
It happened to Gwenyth Paltrow's dad...he had colon cancer, overcame it and then passed from a massive heart attack. The same thing happend to my grandfather. Does anyone else know of a similar circumstance?

Having cancer puts a person in a hypercoagulable state meaning that they are more prone to forming blood clots. Many cancer patients develop deep vein thromboses and pulmonary emboli. They can also form clots that travel to the brain causing strokes or CVAs and clots to the heart such as a heart attack or MI.
2 :
It very well could be the toxic drugs (side effects) that the person took to treat the colon cancer. Pharmaceutical drugs are very dangerous, much more so than the diseases they're intended to cure. There are natural methods to treating every disease, even cancer, but the pharmaceutical industry and the government have a lot of money to make off these drugs; thus, the FDA approves them and we die from them.

who cares you little bitch

Some treatments in general can lead to a low defense state in your body and can cause another bad condition, because of that you have to follow all the instructions and preventions of your physician. for esample exposure to strong emotions is bad after any cancer treatment or during it.

How can I tell if I have colon cancer

How can I tell if I have colon cancer?
I am 18 years old. I know that it usual doesn't become a threat until 40 years of age, but lately: -I have been overly tired -My stool is thinner then usual -I have had diarhia on and off -It has a different texture and odor to it I am in a panic right now and am hoping to hear that this is just a virus or something. Thanks in advance. It's not bloody, but it looks weird. (Fuzzy looking) Almost as if mold was growing on it or something.

it's much more likely that you have a virus. the only way you can tell for sure is to get a blood test. is your diarrhea bloody at all?
2 :
get a colonoscopy. It is really the best way to test and if they do find a benign polyp then the doctors can remove it right then and there.
3 :
hey, that really does not sound like colon cancer. you're way too young for that too! still, go to the doctor, get your blood checked and maybe an mri. that should do it first. idk what you have, could be lots of stuff. good luck
4 :
Cancer? Unlikely. Something a doctor should check ? Absolutely! You see, Cancer has no symptoms in many cases. Don't panic, but do see your dr asap. Write down exactly what your problems are so you remember. Good luck.

I suggest you visit www.WebMd.com where there is a signs & symptoms area you can use as a guideline toward finding medical answers to your questions; as well as utilize the WebMd site as a guidance toward finding some medical guidance in respect to your concerns. It is an excellent site which offers avenues toward finding treatment & medical personnel within your area. A very user friendly site as well offering easy to understand terms & medical terminology for all. Answer's is not the best avenue for seeking any medical guidance~ especially when there are many who may find entertainment in 'serious' inquiries! [Just my personal opinion] Take care~
2 :
You can’t tell. You go to the doctor and they do a colonoscopy.
3 :
Hey, The only way to know if you have colorectal cancer (colon cancer) is a biopsy of the colon or rectal area that appears cancerous as Denisedds said. These tests can be performed by a gastrointerologist or a colon and rectal surgeon. However the symptoms that should send you to one of these specialists for testing are:- Usually the first symptom is bright red rectal bleeding. This does not always mean that you have colon cancer but you should seek medical care for this symptom as colorectal cancers often bleed. If the cancer is far from the rectum instead of bright red bleeding, a sign of colon cancer is dark, tarry stools, another symptom that should send you straight to the doctor. Bleeding into the intestine results in a low blood count or anemia. A symptom of anemia is lack of energy. In any unexplained anemia the diagnosis of colon cancer must be considered. New onset constipation is another symptom. As the cancer grows it begins to block the intestine so stools cannot pass. With certain types of colon cancers, diarrhea can also be a symptom. Diarrhea that does not resolve in a few days must also be investigated. When the intestinal tract is partially or completely blocked, a feeling of fullness, decrease in appetite, and weight loss can be a result. These are symptoms of colon cancer until proven otherwise. Bright red rectal bleeding, dark tarry stools, fatigue, constipation, continuous diarrhea, weight loss, lacks of appetite, and a feeling of fullness can all be symptoms. It is important to seek medical help if you have any or especially a combination of these symptoms as they can be colon cancer symptoms. The only way to know that you have colorectal cancer is to see a doctor who can diagnose the cause of the symptoms. I hope its not serious
4 :
Symptoms of Colon Cancer include: 1. Constipation 2. Thin / Bloody stool 3. Stomach cramps 4. Gas and Bloating 5. Unexplained weight loss 6. Nausea and vomiting 7. Lethargy Still, it’s important to understand what you need to look for, so if something does pop up, you make sure to seek medical attention immediately.

I'm sorry to hear about your history of cancer. There are many health benefits of fish oils. They are an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids. Your body needs these healthy fats. You can only get them from your diet since your body cannot manufacture them. Fish oils are proven to help fight inflammation and improve cardiovascular health. Try to use liquid fish oils as they provide a higher dose of omega 3 fatty acids per tablespoon, compared to taking soft gels. In other words, you may have to take 3 - 5 soft gels to equal the amount of omega 3 fatty acids you'll get from one tablespoon of fish oils. Some good liquid fish oils are Nordic Naturals, Dr. Sears Fish Oils and Carlson Fish Oils. Good luck and I wish you good health.

Do people with stage 0 colon cancer need chemo or is this an insurance income for doctors and staff

Do people with stage 0 colon cancer need chemo or is this an insurance income for doctors and staff?
My friend had a resected bowel in January 2010 due to precancerous cells found during a routine colonoscopy in November 2009. She is 50. They said it was between a Stage 2-3, but because she is a non-smoker, that drops it to a Stage 0. She is not tolerating the procedure of her chemotherapy very well (air passages closed briefly in cold weather) and is wondering if she even needs it! Any suggestions for her?

1 :
Cancer staging refers to the size and extent of spread of a cancer, it has nothing to do with being a smoker or a nonsmoker. If you friend was diagnosed with a Stage 2 cancer it is a stage 2 cancer.
2 :
That doesnt make any sense. The stage has to do with how far the cancer has spread. Why would smoking have anything to do with it. And at stage 2, you typically would need chemo to be safe.
3 :
Yeah, I agree with the other guys. A stage 2-3 would be staged a 3, whether or not the person smokes. She would need chemo. No one's air passages close due to chemo. There is no stage 2 precancer. Since a hospital will treat you whether or not you have insurance, guess that part of your question is moot.
4 :
Stage 2 cancer will require Chemo, and there is nothing called stage 0 (Just from stage 1 to 4, stage 1 doesn't require but beyond that stage chemo is beneficial). Enquire what chemo is being given. Rouine chemo for colon cancer is 5FU and Levamosol which is usually well tolerated by most of the patients (a mild chemo). She may be receiving some new or advanced chemotherapy. Smoking has nothing to do with staging and it is not a very major risk factor for colon cancer too (unlike lung/ esophagus/ pancreas and bladder). Any time if she is not able to pass flatus then surely it is not because of chemo but due to previous surgery (?stricture) or ?adhesions or ?rercurrence. Best wishes PS: By your mail I gathered that her CEA (tumour marker) dropped down to normal after surgery, Yeah here smoking will contribute, CEA remains high in smoker. Stage 0 does not mean normal CEA but Cacrinoma in situ i.e. Tis, so once she had node positive disease surely Chemo is a must, advice her to complete the course coz colon cancer is one cancer where cure rate is good
5 :
My thoughts on cancer are as under. It does not seem to be having any side effects. Give it shot and save the world. The least it can do for you as per previous experiments are - complete relief from pain, better handling of chemo after effects. Our body becomes acidic because of wrong eating and resting habits. That causes body to store more water to ward off the bad effects of acid accumulation along with FAT and other minerals. These things though stored in the body can not be used because it is stored in much bigger sizes then the sizes that can be used by the body. So prevention should include making our body alkaline. Getting rid of excess stored water and then Getting rid of excess acids. Dehydration - When we drink water with meals or within 3-4 hours of a meal the stomach acids and toxins move from our blood to our body (cells of body outside blood system). This causes more water to be retained for managing those acids and toxins in cells (outside blood system) and we are continuously in the state of shortage of water. So even if we are drinking sufficient water we may be in dehydration mode. Since the blood acids levels are also on the higher side (due to shortage of water in the blood system) the kidneys will not be able to remove the toxins and acids efficiently. Over a period of time this will damage the kidneys as well. Hydration - When we drink water 30 minutes before meals movement of acids and toxins from blood to our body (outside blood system) stops. So the blood acid levels improve (become low - still on the higher side of the range) and there are more nutrients available in the blood system. This excess of acids and toxins in the blood system are removed from our blood by kidneys. Overhydration - When we keep on drinking water before the meals the blood acids drop to a level that kidneys stop removing the acids and toxins from our blood. Because of low blood acid levels the metabolism drops to very low levels. The kidneys does the removal job only if blood acids are in a particular range. This causes the water retention in the body. This also causes the cells death resulting from excess water. Excess cell death would eventually result in very yellow urine. The undermentioned routine aims at detoxification. It makes sure that toxins move from outside the blood system to blood system and from there outside the body thru kidneys. First 9 Glasses of water (all before meals) improves the blood acids levels (the blood acids levels are brought in the range which is best for kidney functioning). The movement of toxins and acids from blood system to our body (outside blood system) stops during this phase. Before the blood acids levels drop very low (when kidney functioning is impaired again) we reduce our water intake. In the second phase we try to get, the stores of the toxins stored in the body, in our blood system. Reducing water intake helps in that. In the third phase we increase blood acid levels to very level. This causes movement of toxins from our body (outside blood system) to blood system. In the next phase we again increase our water levels so that removal of acids from blood out of body thru kidney is more more efficient. To get relief follow the undermentioned routine. Do not sleep for at least 3 hours after a meal. This is most important. This is to ensure that we do not cause movement of toxins from our blood to our body (outside our blood system). This also helps in better repair of our body during sleep. 1. First 2 days Drink 3 glasses of water before each meal. So total should be 9 glasses a day. Stop all other liquids. For example if you take lunch at 2.00 pm, take 1 glass each at 12.30, 1.00 and 1.30 pm. Some deviations from suggested times are ok. Do not drink water after 7 PM. 2. Next 7 days Reduce water intake to 6 glasses day. 2 Glasses before each meal. 3. Next 2 days Reduce water intake to 3 glasses day. 1 Glasses before each meal. 4. Next 2 days Drink 1 glass of water in the entire day. 5. Next Repeat 1,2,3 and 4.

What kind of diet is best to prevent colon cancer

Cleanse diet is the best one, visit this site http://how-to-prevent-colon-cancer.blogspot.com/ to learn how to cleanse your colons, improve your digestion and conquer colon cancer, number 2 cancer killer.
2 :
Antioxidants are known cancer-fighters, so eat plenty of foods rich in them (berries, for example). Omega-3 fatty acids are also believed to help prevent cancer. You should also eat a relatively high-fiber diet. If you don't now eat a high-fiber diet, gradually increase the fiber to avoid unpleasant side effects. Drastically reduce red meat consumption (or, better yet, completely eliminate it). Also, be sure to get an annual colonoscopy. You might consider making an appointment with a registered dietitian , too.
3 :
A high fiber diet is highly recommended. Whole grains, bran, raisin bran, alphalfa sprouts, green leafy vegetables. If you don't have time to eat right then use Metamucil a couple of times a week. This will keep you regular, and give you added fiber. Eat more white meats and fish which are leaner. Keep regular checkups with your doctor because colon cancer is cureable if caught early enough.

It is the mitral valve and it is leaking 30 percent. My dad just gets tired easy and is short of breath sometimes. Does colon surgery sound safe for him

Again, he needs to be seen by HIS cardiologist, who will express his/her opinion about the safest course of action for him. He'll get through the surgery - we are pretty good at taking care of sick people. He may need to have his medications adjusted before the operation. If you want to get a head start on things, make an appointment with his cardiologist, and specifically ask for recommendations for surgery, and a pre-operative evaluation. It's going to need to happen anyway, and being proactive will prevent delays. Best of luck - I'm sure he'll do well :)
