Need any info on colon cancer with mets to the liver

Need any info on colon cancer with mets to the liver?
My uncle was just diagnosed with this. The doctor has given him only 20 months to live. The doc said they could give him morphine and do chemo to help reduce the pain. But are there any other options for him? Alternative medicine? Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This will be my third posting of this alternative therapy to eliminate cancer. Considering that one in three Canadians will experience some form of cancer in their lifetime....this message needs to be passed on. YouTube - RUN FROM THE CURE - The Rick Simpson Story (Part 1 of 7) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjhT9282-Tw&feature=related This seven part documentary gives credible case histories of individuals overcoming terminal cancer and chronic pain by ingesting just a few drops daily of properly made hemp oil. Note: There is no evidence to suggest smoking marijuana cigarettes will create similiar healing influences on the body. This documentary also shows how to make hemp oil for use in creating and maintaining physical health. The video also explains why the Pharmaceutical companies, the Cancer Research Institute, and even the medical doctors ....do not wish this simple hemp-oil medicine to be available to the public... Government is lobbied by big business to keep the lid on the use and availability of hemp oil medicine. Even prescription 'medical marijuana" does not include the making or use of "hemp oil" for medicinal purposes. There is also a program that is healthgiving and safe....which completely cleanses and eliminates toxins in the colon. It is called the 'colon cleanse' and is supplied by 'Blessed Herbs.com' Lastly, eliminating all processed foods from the diet and moving to what our ancestors ate, namely: fish/chicken, vegetables, and rice/potatoes....with water as the preferred liquid....is most profound in creating health. Trouble is....people want an instant cure....or wish to 'dull' the pain...but do not wish to seek out and practise 'cleansing and healing regimes' for extended periods of time. Sometimes surgery can remove the infected area if it is small enough. However, one must eventually 'cleanse' the physical body and recreate/strengthen the immune system. Again, I will emphasize that medical doctors are not trained and do not benefit financially from 'alternative medicine and more 'natural' therapies'. The system is set up to feed off the Pharmaceutical industry.

my father in law and my husbands uncle both died of colon cancer that spread to the liver. neither recieved chemo, both where on heavy doses of morphine. i really don't think there is much to do at this point. but i can tell you this, with palliative care the time that is left can be happy and pain free. make sure his doctor refers him to palliative care, and near the end hospice care. i know this is hard to hear. and there is always hope. you didn't say how old your uncle is but if he is the normal cancer patient he is older. he has probabaly live a good live. talk with him, how does he feel. just listen to him. he well let you know what needs to be done. god bless you and your family

Stage 4 colon cancer is not curable. The median survival is about 2.5 years. If you are looking for a cure there isn’t one known colon cancer is only curable when caught early enough. If you r uncle is interested in fighting it he should look into clinical trials as that is the only alternative medicine that has any hope at all.

Honey I am so sorry your uncle and family are going this. I lost a very good friend to this horrible disease. It was already to late when it was found. Like your uncle, the cancer had already spread to his liver and other internal organs. Colon cancer with metastes to the liver is classed as stage four. Survival is very rare. I have to be honest. Chemo is often used to try to shrink the tumours and relieve pain, as well as extend life. Biological therapy or a clinical trial might be his best options. From your National Cancer Institute; Biological Therapy Some people with colorectal cancer that has spread receive a monoclonal antibody, a type of biological therapy. The monoclonal antibodies bind to colorectal cancer cells. They interfere with cancer cell growth and the spread of cancer. People receive monoclonal antibodies through a vein at the doctor's office, hospital, or clinic. Some people receive chemotherapy at the same time. During treatment, your health care team will watch for signs of problems. Some people get medicine to prevent a possible allergic reaction. The side effects depend mainly on the monoclonal antibody used. Side effects may include rash, fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, blood pressure changes, bleeding, or breathing problems. Side effects usually become milder after the first treatment. You may find it helpful to read NCI's booklet Biological Therapy: Treatments That Use Your Immune System to Fight Cancer. Clinical trials; Currently there are 667 open clinical trials listed with NCI. Here is the link to the list: http://www.cancer.gov/search/ResultsClinicalTrials.aspx?protocolsearchid=8088892. Beyond that, all I can say is that your uncle is very lucky to have you in his life. Love him all you can and spend every day you can with him. Help with his care. It won't be an easy task and you will learn new tasks and strengths as you go.

Time to get another oncologist. There are numerous drugs trials showing promise. Forget about the alternative medicine. The best thing is to get another oncologist that specializes in colon cancer or at least a new one.

First and foremost, your Uncle needs to continue to work with his oncologist. That being said, he should look at other alternatives in conjunction that may help him. One of those is Xango. My personally know a couple that have had remarkable results by adding Xango to mainstream treatments for cancer. Here is one of many testimonials Marty My colon/rectal cancer was discovered Sept. 2002. After radiation & chemotherapy, I had surgery in Jan, 2003 in which a section of my colon was removed & given a colostomy. During surgery it was found that I had 5 lesions on my liver, where the cancer had metastasized. I was told that no further surgery could be done on the liver because of the number of lesions. I was further treated with 2 types of chemotherapy to stop the growth of the cancer. The doctor told me that I had 6 months to live if I did not take the chemo treatments and about 18 months to live if I used the chemo. I proceeded with the chemotherapy and in August, 2003, I was introduced to mangosteen juice by a friend. I decided to try this alternative. I began taking one bottle per day of mangosteen juice along with a gallon of distilled water. I did this for twenty-one days. I was previously scheduled for a CAT scan about 14 days into the program. The scan showed that four of the five lesions in my liver were no longer discernable in the scan. My doctor was surprised and asked that I have a more detailed scan, using the MRI. I had this scan and the results confirmed that there was only one lesion left. At this point I had not told the doctor about the mangosteen juice & still didn’t at that point. The doctor reminded me how I would have only about 1 in a million chance of recovering from liver cancer. He said, "Marty, you may be that one! The doctor then suggested a PET scan. This resulted in confirming the same results As the CT and MRI. There appeared to be just the one remaining lesion, which by then had been reduced to less than one centimeter in size. Then I told the doctor about the mangosteen juice and gave him some literature. I continued taking the mangosteen juice for the 21 days & THEN I REPEATED the 21 day process. I am still drinking mangosteen juice, however, have decreased the amount to 3 - 4 oz / day. Nobody is saying that this is a cure for cancer because the human clinical trials have not been completed, but there is a ton of anecdotal evidence that Xango has help in fighting cancer. If you and/or your Uncle would like more information, please send me an e-mail through my profile. I would like to have you talk to someone who has gone through what your Uncle is going through. Best regards and God bless, Paul
