I have a friend taking chemo for colon cancer almost a year.....what's the longest one typically has chemo??

for my colon cancer, my chemo lasted 6 months with 5 sessions a month (5 sessions for first week with rest for next 3 weeks), and i thought that was typical

it depends, I have seen people have chemo non stop until they progress, then they might be changed to another regimen or drug.. it depends on how the tumor reacts to the chemo drugs and if it responds to it... ther is no one standard answer for your question....

Chemo can last indefinitely depending on the type of treatment. There are some chemo pills that a patient will take daily. So it really depends on the type of chemo and the reason behind taking the chemo . . there are some cancers that can only be controlled (not cured) by taking a daily pill. In general the chemo will last until it is no longer controlling the growth rate of the cancer. My son took chemotherapy for three years.
