It could be hemorrhoids. If you've never had them, they are painful and do cause blood in stools. When was the last time you had a colonsocopy? Never put those off. That's the best way to find colon cancer. If this happens again, by all means contact your DR. Don't take any chances. I wish you the best

Colon cancer is cancer of the large intestine (colon), the lower part of your digestive system. Rectal cancer is cancer of the last several inches of the colon. Together, they're often referred to as colorectal cancers. Signs and symptoms of colon cancer include: -A change in your bowel habits, including diarrhea or constipation or a change in the consistency of your stool for more than a couple of weeks -Rectal bleeding or blood in your stool -Persistent abdominal discomfort, such as cramps, gas or pain -A feeling that your bowel doesn't empty completely -Weakness or fatigue -Unexplained weight loss -Many people with colon cancer experience no symptoms in the early stages of the disease. When symptoms appear, they'll likely vary, depending on the cancer's size and location in your large intestine. BUT I FEEL YOU ARE HAVING ONLY PILES AND HENCE YOU GOT BLOOD AND PAIN. PLEASE TELL YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT IT AND HE WILL BE ABLE TO TELL YOU CORRECTLY.-

Your question is “What is the most common sign of colon cancer? The answer is rectal bleeding. However, a single symptom is not reason for cancer to be a consideration and at your age it is not likely. If it persists or you start getting other symptoms see your doctor. In the meantime consider your eating habits if you are straining it could be hemorrhoids or fissures so you may want to consider adding fiber to your diet. Although a colonoscopy can be done at any time if indicated they are not recommended until you are 50 years old so you are not putting anything off.
