Is this true about COLON CANCER

Is this true about COLON CANCER?
Just came across this story about this mother, and read the part about her having "bowel cancer" for years and not knowing. I've heard that some people can have this type of cancer for some time before it's diagnosed but for such a long time as years?!!! Is this the norm?

Unfortunately yes, Especially colon cancer that one can be happening for a long time. This is why you need to get a colonscopy every 10 years.

My mothers Oncologist believes she had it for about 10 years before she was diagnosed last spring. All that time she thought she had an irritable bowel.

yes. My dad went in for a colonoscopy at 54, b/c his doctor said it would be a good idea. He didn't have any symptoms, but he did have colon cancer and is currently undergoing chemo. Scary stuff.

Yes this is what happened to my brother in law and it wasn't until he went to the toilet one morning and discovered alot of blood. He had it for quite some time and even had some of his liver cut away, as bowel cancer and liver cancer go hand in hand. He didn't take the radiation and chemo treatment and took on the diet, breathing and meditation way of things only to find it has spread now throughout his body.

it's that way with many cancers, including colon cancer. symptoms don't usually show up until the disease has progressed. this is why the medical profession has been urging folks to have regular exams and such.

Colon cancer usually starts in a polyp and spreads slowly, so yes this often takes years. Colon cancer and liver cancer do not go hand in hand.

This is true. This is why previous ads for the American Cancer society would say '" fight cancer with a checkup and a check."
