It is the mitral valve and it is leaking 30 percent. My dad just gets tired easy and is short of breath sometimes. Does colon surgery sound safe for him

Again, he needs to be seen by HIS cardiologist, who will express his/her opinion about the safest course of action for him. He'll get through the surgery - we are pretty good at taking care of sick people. He may need to have his medications adjusted before the operation. If you want to get a head start on things, make an appointment with his cardiologist, and specifically ask for recommendations for surgery, and a pre-operative evaluation. It's going to need to happen anyway, and being proactive will prevent delays. Best of luck - I'm sure he'll do well :)
