I am a Stage III colon cancer survivor. I had chemo and radiation. The side effects are not fun, but your family member will be fine. Colon cancer is treatable if it's detected early enough. Sounds like this one is.

He has a good chance. I just found out I'm in stage 3, and I'm fighting in every way possible. At stage 2 there's still well over an 80% survival rate with proper treatment. I just had a resection less than 2 weeks ago (removed about 8" of my colon) and I'm back to work already. After his, they'll have him in chemo in about 5-6 weeks. Chemo for colon cancer is a little different--it doesn't make your hair fall out, and it just makes you tired for a day or so. And it's a very successful treatment. Most people don't know that there are different types of drugs used in chemo for different types of cancer. Colon cancer is one of the more survivable forms of cancer, as long as you fight.

If it is true that "all people ive known that undergo for this therapy is nothings happen", then they are indeed the exception; colon cancer is VERY treatable, and depending on what other organs are affected, even at Stage II is far from a "death sentence"... Follow what the oncologist advises, and in 99% of cases, all will be well...

Chemo, Radiation, and Surgery are all options. Most often patients are treated with a combination of those treatments and sometimes other treatments as well.

Stage 2 cancer means that no metastasis have been found. Sometimes there are features in the cancer that are associated with increased risk of subsequent development of metastasis. That would be things like for instance infiltration of blood vessels. The purpose of chemotherapy in that situation is to destroy those few cancer cells that might have gotten into the bloodstream. In other words - chemotherapy is given as part of the cure. It is not a palliative treatment. It increases the prognosis from good to even better.

Mark I feel sorry for you. If you only knew who prayer helped. Please don't dismiss it until you've tired it. Prayers work wonders. If it wasn't for prayers, my sister would not be here today. What's the harm in trying both. Chemo and prayer. and I don't care in the least how many thumbs down I get because nothing will sway me either way.

Vitamin B17. Big pharma and even the FDA (because the FDA is infested with people who also work for big pharma companies!) won't admit that this simple vitamin that you can get frm food, yes from food is the best available cancer prevention and cure - the reason tehy wont back this is because they cant patent and then SELL and profit from somthing that naturaly occurs in nature Here is some good info on Cancer that is not mainstream because it doesnt generate profits for big pharma! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rook-MzIA… http://www.worldwithoutcancer.org.uk/ (the story of vitamin B17)

There is no 'cure' for cancer . . but there is treatment and the treatment can lead to an individual 'cure'. In this case chemotherapy is being used to stop and kill any microscopic cancer cells left in the body. Surgery can remove visible or large tumors . . and radiation is good for only one area usually the tumor bed . . but chemotherapy can enter the blood stream and follow the same paths that any metastatic cancer cells may have followed . . in other words it can target any cancer in any location that remains in the body after surgery. That is the purpose of chemo .. to seek out and destroy any and all remaining malignant cells . . cells that a CT or PET or the eye could never see or find . . the hiding cancer cells or the microscopic ones. It is given to stop any new cancer colonies from starting up again. Unfortunately, there is no guarantees that the dosage of chemo given or the type given will stop the cancer . . in some cases the cancer mutates again and builds a resistance to chemo . . which than needs to be changed. So it is not chemo to fear . . it is cancer.

Is there any natural cure for colon cancer

Is there any natural cure for colon cancer?
My Mother has has colon cancer for about 3 years now & the chemotherapy was never helping her. About a month ago I found out that the cancer has spread in the lungs and breasts, she also has Internal bleeding. I hear that there are natural cures that the doctors do not speak of, but I really need help because she is dying. My question is, do anyone know of any natural medicines for cancer that could help my Mother?

I know of a natural product that is listed in the Physicians Desk Reference as "anti-tumor" with "no adverse side effects". I can't say that it cures cancer, But, if I were diagnosed, this is the recipe I would follow: 1 Bottle of Tahitian Noni Juice per day for 4 days. 1/2 Bottle of Tahitian Noni Juice per day for 4 days. Then 4-6oz per day for 1 year. Worst Case Scenario? It would make her feel better through DR's treatment.

i never heard of a sure thing. I know a lot of people swear by kombucha tea that you can buy at the health food stores. It's always worth a try. I hope all the best. Prayers never fail to guide us!

JUST PRAY TO GOD.

About the best chance she might have is becoming part of a clinical trial for a new treatment. You should ask her oncologist if there are any in which she might participate. There could be a medicine that could help her ... but even if not, she could be helping future generations fight the disease by helping bring tomorrow's treatments to market.

You may not want to hear this, but honestly if she has colon, lung, and breast cancer AND internal bleeding- she is going to die, and VERY soon. Spend time with and enjoy the time you have. There will be no miracles, I am sorry. Lost my grandfather to cancer a couple months ago.

go to cancertutor.com, do some serious research, also your mother should consult a colon hydrotherapist, and have colonics. Read 'Cancer is a Fungus' by Dr. Simoncini, also consider Gerson Therapy.

Unfortunately, chemotherapy doesn't always cure it, and a "cure" is dependent on how quickly it is diagnosed. Since it has metastasized to other critical areas, I would say her chances of survival are minimal, and you probably don't have much time left. Spend time with her now, and maintain her comfort. When people say that there are "natural cures that the doctors do not speak of", they are lying, and trying to sell you something like a book or an actual product. Typically its a book, because even though its a lie, it is protected by free speech. Whereas, if someone was selling an actual remedy and saying that it cures cancer, they would be sued for making false and dangerous medical claims. I can't think of any reason that a doctor would want to suppress information about a cure for anything. If there as a cure, what would prevent a company from selling it and making billions of dollars? Keep in mind that many drugs started out as "natural" ingredients found in plants. Then researchers isolate the chemical, purify it, study the effect it has in the body, and determine a safe and effective range of doses. So the notion that companies can't sell something that's natural is simply wrong. Bottom line, I understand your desire to find the mythical hidden cure, but it doesn't exist. Treatments are getting more promising, but they are all dependent on how much the cancer has progressed. There will likely never be a "cure" for cancer, unless you mean early diagnosis and treatment by genetic means to prevent the cancer gene from activating in the first place. But in your mom's case, there isn't much that can be done. I'm sorry to tell yout this, and I empathize with your situation.

What is the survival rate for Colon Cancer

What is the survival rate for Colon Cancer?
My aunt was recently diagnosed with Colon Cancer. I really don't know too much about it. What is the survival rate? Is it usually treatable as far as cancer goes? I welcome any comments from surivors or people with relatives with cancer or anyone really. Thanks in advance.

Pretty good! My gran had 2 meters of intestine taken out due to colon cancer 10yrs ago. She's 84 now and still going strong. So keep your chin up, it is survivable.

If the tumor is confined to the colon, it's actually very easy to deal with nowadays. A surgeon can simply remove the affected length of colon (it's just a big tube) and sew the ends together, and your aunt will be good as new! (almost). The prognosis is not so good if it has spread to other places, but cancer has become much more of a treatable disease in the last few years. My best wishes to your aunt. I hope she doesn't smoke, and is improving her diet.
