We had a talk and he said he did not mean it but he cant handle being in relationship, when he his dad has a cancer, so now we still together because he said he is sorry but it is very weird. What does it mean? Arent relationships supposed to mean helping each other, not breaking up in trouble?

To some people, being in a relationship takes lots of work - being pleasant, spending lots of time with the other person, etc. Since his focus now needs to be on his father, he may feel overwhelmed and cannot spend the time maintaining a relationship with you because all of his thoughts and time and activities will be spent on his father.

give him the space he needs to deal what he and his family are going through sounds as though he is traumatized and until you have been through something like that yourself you will not understand why he is acting the way he is, its natural ,dont be selfish just step back and give him the time to get his head around this

I just recently found out my mother has colon cancer and my bf left me granted two days before i found out about my mother he was talking about leaving, showed me what kind of man he really is he is now gone

It sounds like your boyfriend has a lot of stress right now and doesn't feel like he can juggle two relationships at the same time. The relationship period is more of a 'trial' period to see how each of you handle different stresses in different situations. Your boyfriend expresses the need to devote more time to his father right now. Have an open and honest discussion with your boyfriend.
