She's single in her 40's and lives at home with mom and dad. No kids, never married and currently only working a part time job. Any ideas where or how she can get quality medical care in the Chicago area without necessarily having to go to Cook County Hospital ? She's a great lady, very loving and giving and she REALLY needs a break right now. Parents are elderly, low income. Thanks for any suggestions.

Your friend might call the local branch of the American Cancer Society, for some guidance. They may have referral sources for low-income people. Or she might try a major teaching hospital, and see if they have anything to offer. Your friend probably would qualify for the state funded health insurance plan (Medicaid in Pennsylvania) for low income folks, which would allow her to go to any hospital/doctor who accepts Medicaid. Good luck to your friend.
